CAAT - CAAT’s Media Coordinator arrested for wearing a kufiya in Whitehall This is the dystopian, authoritarian country we now live in - one where you can end up sitting in a cell because the police believe you might protest.

CAAT’s Media Coordinator Emily Apple, who is also a member of Netpol's core team, was arrested on 9 October for simply wearing a Palestinian kufiya in Whitehall. This is the dystopian, authoritarian country we now live in

I’m so angry and upset. These women do not speak for me.

In dark moments I’m relieved that Alice isn’t here to witness it, for how could I protect her? All a mother wants is to keep their child safe.

Then I feel broken that I even thought that.

Police can consider the β€˜cumulative impact’ of protests on an area and could ban the protest / force it to move elsewhere.

I have come to the conclusion the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces should not even come to Parliament. It is misleading and has caused distress for my trans constituents.

I urge @bphillipsonMP to reject it on grounds of practicality and human rights.

Bar graphs that show how safety was still not good enough, how for some children, relationships with staff were poor, and how time out of cell varied across establishments.

Donut charts that show who the children in our survey are. 99% identified as male; 1 in 3 reported having a disability; including any physical, mental or learning needs that affected their day-to-day live; 2 in 5 were unsentenced or on remand and 10% reported having children of their own.

Donut charts that show some groups continue to be overrepresented: 33% were Muslim, 8% were from the Traveller community, 63% were from an ethnic group other than white, 46% had health problems (including mental health) and 65% reported having been in local authority care.

I’m back to tell you 3 things about ID cards:

1. Migrants ALREADY HAVE biometric ID cards & govts have been trying to digitise them for years w repeated fuckups & failures causing complete chaos - they don’t work, you do not want that system for you.
