Piskey Led – A Short Tale Ghosts of the old world make their presence still known upon the moors. Known by their ancient stone walls and standing stones that still litter the landscape. The walkers, incongruous in their primary colours, garish symbols of the twenty first century. Discover the Traditions of Imbolc and the Cornish Furry Nights What is Imbolc? Otherwise known as Candlemas, Brigid's or St. Brigit's day, Imbolc is an ancient Celtic fire festival celebrating the first whispers of Spring as winter comes to a close. Last week I visited Duddo Five Stones, aka the Singing Stones, for the first time - wow! Beautiful weathered megaliths crowning the hill, with Northumberland spreading far and wide, and the Cheviots on the horizon. The stones even whistled for us! Very nice indeed #StandingStoneSunday

Standing stones are an excellent habitat it seems! Perfect for mosses and lichens to grow... I wonder if anyone's done a survey of standing stone ecosystems? 🤔
