I just don’t think we’re freaking out enough about this SNAP cut. I have spent my whole career working with people who rely on SNAP for food. People who work multiple jobs. Who have kids. I think what the Mamdani's-dad's-cousin-is-his-aunt non-story reveals about white sociopolitics writ large is not merely that they will turn anything into an opportunity to distrust a person of colour, but "extended 'family'" is anathema to a certain flavour of whiteness, out of ignorance or spite.

This administration is *murdering people in the ocean while freely admitting they have no idea who they're even killing* and we're pretending this is a thing people are objecting to. Why do we even indulge these lies?

The depth of the shame of a country this wealthy and abundant allowing its people to go hungry is impossible to measure. The fact that a handful of people could fix this by paying their fair share of taxes while still remaining obscenely wealthy makes it even worse.
