Boomers are all like "I hate my wife LOL!" until you seduce their spouses and then it's all crying and "How could you do this to me, Ethel?! 30 good years we had together! And why is HE wearing a clown suit?!" so you slowly walk out the door with their good cutlery stuffed in your baggy clown pants.

The Soviet union fought the Axis from June 22, 1941, to May 8, 1945 that is 1415 days
February 24, 2022 + 1415 days is January 9th 2026.
When to start a war clock ticking is arguable. But with these two start points the Ukraine war is now nearly as long as this area of WW2

Ah, retail jobs. I worked at the meat and fish counter of a supermarket my first year of college. A customer once reported me to the manager because she asked me if her cat would like a particular piece of fish, and completely earnestly, I replied: โI donโt know your catโ.

E.E. Cummings once had a collection of poems rejected by 14 publishers. When he eventually got it published as "No Thanks" in 1935, he dedicated it to those 14 publishers in a visual poem shaped like a funeral urn

I got very curious about this. You can trace Shearer's unit (21 CCS) and you can see what looks like the echo of his little blaze of fame: in Sept 1916 you get visits from various grandees including ... the editor of the BMJ, who presumably came to see for himself.

Finished these socks recently but finally got around to grafting the toe today. The pattern is one I've mostly memorized and the yarn is from wollmeise. I got it in London about 15 years ago. #knitting ๐งถ

Ah just seen a friend share one if those AI cute baby animal videos for the first time. It's bad in many ways but the erosion of truth so nature is just cute and portrayed as we want it to be is going to be very damaging. People seem to prefer the cute quick content than real messy nature.

What Is Life? Revisited
Cambridge Core - Philosophy: General Interest - What Is Life? Revisited
My little book on Schrรถdinger's famous classic 'What Is Life?' is out! Offering the most comprehensive analysis ever undertaken of the book's origins, reception, impact, and legacy, it uncovers Schrรถdinger's motivations in writing it, and shows how it has shaped our current understanding of the cell
