Everyone has their Dublin character that they miss - like "Bang Bang" for example.

For me it would be Pat Ingoldsby. Had some truely wild conversations with him years back.

St Brigit in Continental Europe with Prof. Jean-Michel Picard

Happy St Brigid's weekend! To celebrate we bring you a journey through Europe w/Prof. Jean-Michel Picard, UCD. He has unreal stories of hunting down manuscripts (incl. Napoleon & nazis!) & helps us understand the appeal of Brigid in lands far from Kildare! #brigid open.spotify.com/episode/0Bl4...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimon...

Antimony is a powerful laxative.

In the 19th century people would buy a small pill made of it, every time someone in your family was sick they'd swallow it, shit their brains out, then wash it off and put it back in the medicine cabinet.

People would inherit them

Screenshot from Irish Times article: "The researchers said the high volume of rain that fell in the seven days up to and including Storm Chandra turned the heavy but β€œnot particularly remarkable” rainfall into a β€œdevastating” flood event.

They found the magnitude of the rainfall over the full week was 9 per cent greater than it would have been in the cooler Earth that existed before climate change.

β€œWe would have expected similar seven-day rainfall to happen once in every 150 years,” they said."

Spotify and the three main major record labels sue Anna's Archive for $13trillion for "brazen theft of millions of files containing nearly all of the world’s commercial sound recordings" Spotify and three major record labels have sued Anna's Archive for $13trillion, alleging that the platform scraped 86million music files.

They told us our music was worth nothing. Now they say it's worth 13 trillion. Class action? www.nme.com/news/music/s...

Portrait format in acrylics on mat board. View down urban lane with backs of buildings on the left, 2 redbrick terrace houses facing out on the right, and a single-story rear entrance to pub straight ahead. Loosely painted. Road surface is warm grey with, on left, double yellow lines and dark green parked car seen from behind, and on right, several silver/grey cars facing forwards and backwards. A black horizontal sign runs along the top of the pub with in faint orange letters are the words, Frank Ryan & Son. Below the sign a dark blue canopy extends over the door and window. Behind the dark green of the rear of pub are the backs of three and four story buildings, white on left and brown brick on right, with a jumble of architectural features like balconies and extensions. The sky is cloudy pale yellow-grey. Signed bottom right in dark blue, Liam Daly

Have a #painting from a few years ago. The name of this street in Dublin is "Coke Lane", and it's just off Smithfield. That's a fine pub down there but I've always liked the lane in and of itself, so I painted it. #art #SpeirGhorm

Design rant: when cars move from analog shift levers to digital, they maintained the order of reverse, neutral, drive. But Park is no longer on top so you enter this trifecta in neutral effectively. as a result you push the lever forward to go backwards and pull the lever backwards to go forward.

When it rains, it now rains more.

For those experiencing the flooding in south-west England, it is worth remembering that rainfall in winter has increased by about 25% overall.

And, the rainfall has also become more intense: when it rains, it now rains more, increasing the risk of flooding.

Stanley eventually went blind (from the disease) and Tallulah sent him a statue of her she had. "So he could still see her by touching her".

You see stories of her affairs, drug addictions and STIs but I've never seen her kindness to a very ill fan outside of this book.

Leper is still a synonym for an order to be shunned. But we can't even imagine how reviewed they were at the time.

One inmate plucked up the courage to write Tallulah fan letters. She not only replied to invited him to visit her
