The more I see plastic 3D printed stuff the more I hate it. It's fine for useful things like replacement parts or adaptors, but it's just so lifeless as art.

It's not about following the trends, it's about marketing.

As an author, I don't make a whole lot of money, but at the same time I need to read a lot of books to stay aware of trends and support my fellow authors. Obviously if I spend all my profits on other people's books, I'm not coming out ahead!

So: ways to read lots of indie books for cheap.

I didn't know there was more than one season! Now I need to find the others.

So many people have never heard the word giraffe pronounced, apparently.

I feel like we need this

Ooh, I bet. Spinning blades turn them to glue.

Mark Bittman's How to Cook Everything: The Basics is a great starter book, and even though I've been cooking for decades I still go back to it for things like cooking time for dried beans or substitutions.

My favourite Moosewood is Sundays at Moosewood, which has recipes from around the world.

I don't cook meat, so one Thanksgiving I hosted and my sister brought the turkey. An hour's rest in a cooler for the drive turned out to be perfect, so I'm told.

If you have internet access but no library you can get books that are deliberately free from almost any retailer. There are newsletters that will tell you which books are free this week. There's no justification for theft.

I would absolutely wear those patterned fabrics, though.

Two very seventies clown dolls. The one on the left is half yellow and half green floral fabric. The one on the right is half brown and half orange paisley fabric. Their collars and cuffs are matching tulle ruffles and their faces are made of felt and straight pins.

If you're wondering why I am the way I am, these are the earliest toys I can remember

And yes, that is the scratchiest of scratchy tulle

A movie that takes place where you're from.

This is the closest I can get - Canadian side, not US

A screenshot of a Facebook post where a person named Andy ask the Well now β€œWhat the hell is transgender?”
The Royal Canadian Air Force account response with β€œThat’s a pretty big question asked in a pretty small way, Andy.

β€˜Transgender’ putting describes someone whose gender – who they know themselves to be – doesn’t match the sex they were assigned at birth. It’s not new, and it’s certainly not a fad. People have lived this experience for as long as people have existed; we’re just finally talking about it openly.

You don’t have to fully understand it right away, most learning takes time, but we can always start from a place of respect. That’s how decent folks handle things they’re still getting used to.”

Massive shoutout out to whoever handles the Royal Canadian Air Force’s social media account. They responded to every single comment on their already very solid Trans Day of Remembrance post and they responded like this…

I really wish it were not so common for people to use descriptions of psychosisβ€”psychotic, delusional, hallucinatingβ€”as insults or attacks.
