Trying to work out how to say "Attention women over 40" without sounding like a weirdo, but can't think of a way. But if that describes you, please look at this. My clever PhDing wife will appreciate that very much. www.linkedin.com/posts/susang...

I've been looking at my photos and this is by far my favourite: children cycling with heavy goods vehicles. This is why we do it.

Another fine episode, thanks. I'm a fan of using "illegal e-motorbikes" since that's what these are. They might *look* like e-bikes, but if it doesn't meet the standards and it's powered, it's a motorbike. It's not a bike problem. It's an illegal motor vehicle problem.

What would really work: Massive investments in wind power, solar farms, cycleways, electric buses and faster trains.

What won’t work: expanded airports.

There is a back street near me with several examples of this, plus pavement parking. Like a slalom event for people walking. I tend to avoid the street because it just puts my blood pressure up.

Meeting Deadlines
Β
I always meet my deadlines.
I don’t even have to try –
They sneak up on me from nowhere,
Tap my shoulder and say hi.
Β
It’s you! I cry. So how are you?
I did not think you’d come so soon.
Can’t stop now but why don’t we meet
Next Tuesday afternoon?
Β
Or, better still, two weeks from now?
My deadline shrugs and sighs.
A fortnight on, we meet again,
Much to my surprise.

There are so many of these, we really need to start properly funding wholesale redesign of our streets at pace. My children have grown up with this rubbish; I'd like my grandchildren to have better. At current pace of change, *their* grandchildren will still be waiting for better streets.

RiF010 is Rotterdam’s newest public space and the world’s first urban surf pool.

Funded by a municipal initiative and managed by a non-profit, it has transformed the Steigersgrachtβ€”a neglected canal in the heart of the cityβ€”into a hub for water sport enthusiasts including kayakers and scuba divers.

I'm an on and off radio listener, but so glad I popped on Radio 2 this afternoon. @whisperingbob.bsky.social 's choice of music for the 70s show has been phenomenal. Perfect companion while I prepare dinner. Thanks Bob.

Enable conversion of footpaths to cycle tracks without requiring landowner consent as a default position, exceptions as needed for agricultural land, environmentally designated areas etc. Start recording CTs on definitive maps or allow retention of definitive footpath status after CT creation.

While government really needs to get serious about funding for active travel, there are also some legislative changes they could make which would be great enablers. Replacing the Cycle Tracks Act with something fit for purpose would be a good start.
