My last living musical hero is still my hero but unfortunately no longer living. RIP to the great, great Mr. Tom Lehrer.

27.07.2025 17:33 β π 28314 π 4771 π¬ 833 π 686Iβve been on a hiatus from writing, a little mental and emotional reset while I figure out βwhyβ I do it still
And then I plugged in some of my old iTunes playlists andβ¦ Iβm as pumped for new stories as I ever was

From Book 7, The Iron Service
03.05.2025 06:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Updating files for 7 books and 2 omnibus on 4 different services took me an entire work day. But the books will now have a brief list of trigger warnings.
I think itβs useful for potential readers to know theβ¦many ways I murder my characters.
Clair Obscura...Act One. How dare.

To fuck over a billionaire, I have to take a few risks. And I hope you'll take them with me. (9/9)
Will it affect the raw volume of my sales? Absolutely. Not everyone can afford to drop that kinda cash on new untested indies, especially right now. (8/?)
25.04.2025 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So, counterintuitively, I'm going to be raising the prices. You can still get the series for its lower price until May 4th. That's 7 books for a total price of $16.50. Prices will rise from the individual $0.99/$2.99 to $2.99/$5.99.
This will be a 200-800% improvement for me, as the author. (7/?)
I don't want to scrape the bottom of the barrel anymore to satiate Bezos and Zuckerberg. (6/?)
25.04.2025 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So when I got done seething about that, I came to a decision.
I like writing for you all, but for quality and not volume. I like releasing a book when I'm excited for it, not to hit arbitrary release windows. I want to treat you well to an adventure I want to be on with you. (5/?)
He takes the lion's share of off every sale. 70% of a dollar leaves me with just $0.34. For an entire book, I'd make a little over a quarter. Meanwhile, the executives at META have pirated my books to feed into an AI, while arguing in court that the books have 'no real appreciable value.' (4/?)
25.04.2025 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Bezos and the Zon takes 70% of every book 1 sale I make. And he's created a race to the bottom for young indies, as we all try to undercut each other in a bid to sell more volume and not higher quality to the limited readers there are. (3/?)
25.04.2025 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So here's me announcing an egregious business sin: I'm raising the prices on my books, arbitrarily, on all of them. (2/?)
25.04.2025 17:41 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So my books and many others have no appreciable value to Zuckerberg and his stealing something worthless isn't a crime.
*Deep breath*
I like it when businesses are transparent. They tell you what's going on, they're upfront about their reasons, and understanding of their customers' concerns.(1/?)

Once you establish that people can be punished because the administration doesn't like their speech, expanding the bounds of who can be treated that way becomes inevitable.
