Mistral AI, is actually open sourced and based in europe. I would consider it a much more ethical/morally consistent LLM than the likes of Open AI.

Worth pointing out this does not mean people are OK with AI content being spammed. It could be they look forward to safer vehicles, scientific research, automated economy, or something else. Social media sites should invest in good filtering so people can curate whether they see ai content or not.

It would appear a sizable number of people who are "anti ai" are not really anti ai. They just pick a very narrowed down definition of what AI is (LLMs that generate text and images) and say they dislike those use cases. Fair enough but what we colloquially call "AI" is much broader than that.

Some argue against regulating Grok argue that before AI LLM image generators, people used photoshop. While true, these older tools took much longer to "undress" someone. Grok basically turbo charged this. When a tool makes it 100x as easy to do harm, it needs more regulations.

Elon Musks thinks they want to censor X/Grok because of ability to generates white bikinis on adults, no, we don't want a supercharged rogue tool to start de-clothing REAL PEOPLE without our consent. He is once again engaging in a strawman against people who want some basic regulations.

We really need to start regulating these image generators. Other things I'd like to do involve requiring image generators to have invisible watermarks (so difficult to remove, but can easily be verified with tools), and a ban on generating kids as well as ability to de-cloth any person
