Have a Channukah party and a holiday party next week so whipped up some chocolate babkas. Only the second time I made babka but it smells so yummy! 5 yo helped me spread the chocolate and he only made a little bit of a mess.

In day 1 of intro to public administration, I always say that "run the government like a business" is a lie by people who do not understand how government works. They are just too different in goals and services to be treated as the same.

And the chicken soup was delicious. Served it over egg noodles.

One of my fav smells is my house when I am making soup or broth.

A chicken broth with chicken bones, onion, celery, lemon, carrots, & spices boiling.

Have friends coming over so dinner tonight? Chicken soup. Roasted the chicken this morning and now making the broth with the chicken bones and skin and various other shit.

I am not a fan of xmas (I find it insanely annoying & constantly forced upon me) but damn if Christmas cookie boxes aren't yummy looking and look like fun to make. Won't have much time for chocolate production so maybe I will do cookies this year.

New HHS Report on Gender Affirming Care for Trans Youth Hello everyone.

Seeing treatment as experimental and the push for randomized controlled studies. In the beginning of the report and throughout, gender affirming care was identified as “experimental” even though the medical interventions such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy have been around for quite some time. Gender affirming care for minors has been around since at least 1998. There is a push for randomized controlled trials or studies (RCTs). While seen as the gold standard, they are not appropriate for many situations. For gender affirming care, RCTs are not appropriate for a few reasons, including it would be unethical considering what we already know about gender affirming care and how many people are interested in it.

Lack of trust of transgender experiences, seeing treatment as experimental and a push for randomized controlled trials, a focus on Rapid Onset Gender Disphoria (which has been debunked), Conversion therapy by another name, and focus on therapy instead of structural issues.

It is important for nonprofits, especially those who work with youth, to be aware of the political discussions around gender affirming care for youth. With transgender and gender diverse youth and parents looking for guidance and support, it is imperative that nonprofits understand the discussions taking place around care and how they might be used to harm and mislead families. My goal with this analysis is to inform you of what the government is saying about gender affirming care and to help you be aware of some of the issues in their paper. As care for transgender youth continues to be a political issue, one thing I hope we do not forget is that there are youth who want the care they deserve. They are not theoretical but real transgender and nonbinary youth. Helping them and their families find and get the care they need will help everyone. It is important that nonprofits fight against the movement to hide or push out transgender people from public life. Instead, nonprofits should be working with youth to help them figure out what they want and need.

It is important to understand how the current administration is attacking care for transgender youth through distrust in experts, paranoia, and fear of transgender youth & adults. This includes seeing transgender identities as just being same-sex attraction, condescension towards trans id,

I really dislike the Christmas season (It is a lot when you do not care about Xmas) but damn I do love all the cookie recipes I get during the month of December.

Just this week, the Trump administration settled with yet another university, this time Northwestern in Chicago. Trump demanded the school implement multiple anti-trans policies as part of the multimillion dollar settlement. It's the latest in a long string of such settlements against such places as Brown University and the University of Virginia. Each one has demanded draconian restrictions on trans life on campus. This is no coincidence. Conservatives see themselves losing voters with college degrees, they see trans people as an outgrowth of a too liberal society, they have a longstanding grudge with universities existing in the first place, and they see Democrats with a squishy spine when it comes to standing up for trans people in public.

Outrage machine is using issues like this essay to attack transgender people. By looking at this essay as part of a larger attack on the trans community, we can see how public administration can better support the trans community & understand how PA is sometimes complicit in attack the trans comm.

We all need to take a step back and see the larger picture here. Continuing to be squeamish about trans people is what is letting Trump and the other Republicans get away with all of this. They are trying to drive trans people out of society using roving hordes of online abusers, and destroying every institution standing in their way.

I misread this as political TWINK analysis and now I am quite disappointed in the actual research. I thought we were going to find out how twinks become political.

This is an important aspect that myself & others do not talk about. There is a movement to push trans people out of society. I have a lot of thoughts on what public admin is doing wrong right now & the lack of discussion on trans rights & the targeting of trans people is a big issue.

And our Turkey Biryani was yummy. All of the turkey is done!

Today is our annual use up our Turkey day. We made some frozen Thanksgiving dinners for the future and now it is time for turkey stock.

At that age, my son liked Wutaryoo and Jabari Jumps. He also likes Bathe the Cat right now.

One of my favorite writers died today: Tom Stoppard. He wrote the screenplay for one of my fav movies (& one of the best public admin movies) Brazil and one of my favorite plays: Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are dead. He was an amazing writer using absurdity to explore philosophy & bureaucracy.
