He was a trade envoy from 2001 to 2011. He was appointed by Labour. The Lib Dem’s removed him, they did not appoint him

That all sounds like terrible behaviour that I certainly wouldn’t support. However, it seems completely irrelevant to this conversation.

Also sending screenshots from power hungry AI models that pollute the global water supply is not a fantastic way to get a point across about immoral behaviour…

They’re one after the other not at the same time and both have one agenda item of a very minor admin issue that needs to be signed off. So long as people don’t mess around the meetings should take 15 mins each at most

From a recent BBC article:

β€œSir Vince Cable, who was seen as instrumental in ending Andrew's time as trade envoy.”

The Lib Dem’s removed him from his role. They’re very much reaching.

Almost all authorities are amber

The new government settlement makes us poorer. He opposes a town council which could fund it. He opposes a tourist tax that could fund it. So how do we pay for it?

It’s just an attempt to appeal to voters without doing anything that could actually bring it back

Had high hopes for them. Now dashed

β€œNever trust a Tory” Reform say as they welcome the least moral and least intelligent ex-Conservative politicians into their party in literal droves

4.99% is the maximum you can increase it by without a local referendum

It’s a 5% reduction. Obviously, as a council we’re very grateful to get anything but I think the problem is that people think this is money on top of what we used to get and are now expecting us to do more subsidised bus routes rather than less as we’ve received a cut.

Because Labour’s Devolution Bill says so

Unless of course combined authorities are a precursor to the abolition of unitary authorities in the future. In that case town councils would be imperative

I don’t necessarily see combined authorities making town councils more or less important but do think that they’re incredibly important for those things either way

If you want more money in your area you have to form a combined authority with 1.5 million people and you have to have a mayor. Wessex (Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset, BCP) agreed to do this and were denied. Now other areas are being delayed but are still getting some extra money whilst we get nothing

This is clearly AI generated. It’s not even difficult to discern. Reform use misinformation to spread hatred and fear on the regular. Let’s be better than them

Last night we debated an anti-racist motion in full council. A number of people turned up angry about that fact and then decided to interrupt the proceedings

If these people truly didn't think they were racist then why would they be angry about a motion condemning racism?

So how’s the 15th year of Tory governance treating everyone?

Can’t believe Lib Dem Conference was already a week ago!

Here’s a quick look at what I packed into an incredible (and very long!) weekend.

St. Luke’s in Bournemouth hosted a Stand Up To Racism event on Monday and is due to be a polling station tomorrow. A flag has been painted on the door in response.

Explain to me how this is patriotism? Looks more like intimidation to me…

There are several fires in Dorset at the moment. Please follow this advice:

- Don’t travel to the affected areas
- Don’t take/upload photos of the areas
- Report any intelligence to the police. No vigilantism
- Lobby your MP for increased funding for our incredibly stretch fire service

A fantastic parade - we were behind the children from Annie who danced the whole way … can’t get β€œhard knock life” out of my head now!

Then an afternoon door knocking in Wimborne complete with Ally T-Shirt & rainbow body paint on my arms which prompted a few interesting conversations !

Hearing about Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana starting a new party rather than just joining the Green Party reminded me of this Life of Brian clip:

UK to allow foreign states 15% stake in newspapers - BBC News A ban was introduced last year - but the law has now been changed to help cash-strapped publishers raise funding.

That wouldn’t fit in the character amount.

Apologies, here is a less up to date article with the general gist of the legislation www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

MPs to vote on foreign ownership of newspapers after Lib Dem rebellion Commons handed chance to veto law change amid concerns about planned Telegraph takeover

Excuse the Telegraph source here but they’re the only paper with this update

Can someone please give me one reason why Labour is trying to give foreign powers more control over our media and, by extension, our democracy?

THIS IS VILE LEGISLATION
