My best friend from the states is visiting and after nearly three months of meeting all new people (who are lovely), it is absolutely luxurious to spend time with someone who's known me for 10 years.

as a voter i’d actually love some common sense on transgender issues actually. nationalized healthcare, leaving us alone otherwise, things of this nature.

I have committed my semi annual act of chili hubris (thinking that the new chili powder probably won't be that spicy because I live in Germany)

Always an interesting data point about my gender feelings when people he/him me in front of me. It's less wrong but more confusing.

Anyway no more stressing about pronouns on title slides because the people who need to catch them will and no one else will notice. Sigh

I can't remember the last summer I did this much swimming (for sure pre-high school) and my god I missed swimming. Huzzah for finding people/places/outfits that get me past the dysphoria and back into the water

One of the best decisions I ever made was starting a 2 person beer tasting club with a friend. When we travel home (US for me, Belgium for him) we grab beer to bring back and share while we chat about life. What a joy

Weird result of growing up on the dry plains of Kansas: now that I live somewhere with humidity the skin on my hands is too hydrated. I don't like constantly feeling like I just put on lotion. My knuckles should be just a little rough.

Kinda sucks that there are no gender neutral versions of son/daughter that aren't youth-coded (child/kid) or weird (offspring, progeny).

The last month or so has helped me realize that finding nice little restaurants is one of the best parts of traveling even if they're a touch more expensive than I would usually go for.

I understand that a medical emergency that reroutes a train can only be one of a few bad outcomes none of which DB can control. But it is frustrating to cancel the *airport* stop dump everyone off the train an hour away with "¯⁠\⁠_⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠_⁠/⁠¯ good luck" energy.

Hey hey brain. We're going the other direction soon so moving the sleep time later is going to make the jetlag *worse*.

It's nice that I can now identify the climbing moves that will injure me. Now if I just learn to find a better way instead of trying the thing I know will hurt anyway, that'd be great

By dumb luck I picked an Airbnb roughly equidistant between campus and the nearest climbing gym.

Flying out of Wichita after two good weeks hanging with friends and family. Something about leaving this time feels harder...

In light of how difficult a week its been, I'll just say this:

I intend to survive the rough few years to come. You should get it firmly in your head that you will too. Every one of us who survives this will be a gift and a blessing to the world.
