The current page on Zionism is factually accurate while the old ones whitewashed a settler colonial ideology.

I haven't followed UK politics at all so all I know is that they passed this abysmal online safety act. I can't believe anyone supports this crap. I honestly forgot who was even in power in the UK 😭 that's how out of touch I've become

I saw that. I haven't been following the news much at all lately but it's absolutely insane how the world is actively backsliding 😞

some stuff about "forgetting ancestors" (ie societies with very limited genealogical depth), but there doesn't seem to be anything about the cross cultural *variation* in genealogical depth. That is: why, beyond obvious issues of literacy/written record, do the Huli only remember 4-5 generations of

These are super interesting, though the genetic aspect is sort of off-topic of what I'm interested in. I've found a bunch of stuff on how ancestor worship varies cross culturally (Dean Sheils did some great work on this in the 70s) and its origin, and a little bit on societies with naming taboos

Do you know anyone who works in the anthropology of ancestor worship? I know that was a big topic back in the day

@cathryntownsend.bsky.social do you have any references on interest in genealogy research cross culturally? Or the anthropology of family history. Trying to look into it, but keep on getting bogged down with Foucaultian genealogy
