RTÉ to boycott Eurovision Song Contest over Israel Ireland will not participate in next year's Eurovision Song Contest, and it will not be broadcast by RTÉ, after the European Broadcasting Union confirmed today that Israel will be allowed to take part...

If Russia is banned for its war of aggression and atrocities against civilians in Ukraine, Israel should be banned for its genocide in Gaza.

This should not be hard for anyone with a shred of moral/intellectual integrity.

The essence of Blue Labour thought is that somewhere in Downing Street there is a button marked “reindustrialise” that Tony Blair could have pressed, but instead he opted for the “more Woke Studies” button.

To read #Cork City Council's statement this afternoon one would be forgiven to think that this is about 1 tree. The council has removed what was once public green space gradually over 15 years or so. Such poor mismanagement that they have now 'lost' a whole mini-parklet.

Hovering right over the naval ship is really giving the finger to our military. Not good.

We won’t see AGI in our lifetime Referencing the curse of dimensionality, AI Winter economic cycles and probabilistic prediction, this analysis explains why AGI is not imminent.

I'm getting fairly sick of hearing about how "artificial general intelligence" is imminent. It's not.

In this series of images from Google Maps, you can see the gradual and deliberate neglect, privatisation, inappropriate parking, and tree removal (there was once 4 trees on the small site) that led to today. If you wonder how Bishop Lucey Park happened, here's your track record.

Happy Gävlebocken season! Every year since 1966, Gävle, Sweden, has erected a massive version of Scandinavia's traditional straw Yule goat. It is so attractive to vandals—particularly arsonists—that in the previous 59 years, only 17 goats have survived fully intact. Good luck in 2025, Gävlebocken!

Just imagining how much better it would be if ALL news stories about vaccine-preventable illnesses were illustrated with pictures of people with the disease, not pictures of needle injections. If you must show something that people will find scary & unpleasant, make it the disease, not the cure.
