If that's the question she wanted answered, then that's what she should have asked from the jump. The reporter's body language and phrasing was different when addressing Porter, making the question and intent unclear. Porter still said she's going for as many votes as possible.

She said she's working to make that not happen and still get as many votes as possible. Anyway, 60/40 is 60/40. With 2 Ds, the 40 and 60 likely split, but how? If, in theory, the other D aims at R votes, why assume enough R and D votes go to the other D? It was a bad question with too many "ifs."

Um. 60% is enough for anyone to win, regardless of who is in the other 40%. It's mathematical fact. No need to ask the question at all unless the point is to make her look bad. Porter didn't fall for it and said that she intends to win every vote she can.

The match set up is a pretty good metaphor for part of what we are seeing irl. Sure, a few more have genuinely joined the poor people's campaign, but most are like, "just wait, you uppity so & so, you'll get yours..."

I felt hope but then saw the clip. More like bitterness and vengeance, not class consciousness, unfortunately. The set up plays so well for a reason... too many CEOs look like "them" now, & how dare "they" make it in our system while "we" suffer... โ€Don't you know we're still better than you?โ€

I fear that one day weโ€™re going to learn that a massive number of children ended up trafficked due to raids like this.

Arnn also compared the killer's humanity and ability to have life to CK's, saying CK will live on and the assassin will die one day. In context, it sounded like a minimization of Imago Dei and the power of God to save. What of Saul? What kind of gospel is this?

Wish you were right, but far too many normal, smart, church people I know see themselves as above MAGA. Yet, they drink up the barely altered, religious version of these ideas espoused by people like Molher and Wilson (both @ NatCon). They'll deny being racist, but they still agree on a deep level.

Conclusion - They're fascistic, racist, mediocre, petulant children, and they hate that LA, DC, & other blue cities prove their anti-woke rubbish wrong - so they lie and make up excuses to act out their racist revenge fantasy and take more control.

PPPS - Criminalizing/institutionalizing homeless people instead of working on root causes is usually a red flag for any free society. Again, we should learn from history. There are plenty of data points, like this one ...

12.08.2025 06:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

PPS - Desensitizing people to violence by using extreme language is a standard abuser tactic. People will excuse a lot, but students of history (esp. church scandals) should know that any words in service of sin, have painful consequences, and ignorance isn't always bliss.

PS - The worst leaders weren't amazing evil geniuses (as we can tend to think). They often preyed on a combination of people's fears, base desires, & ignorance, while failing upwards. They were aided by people with a variety of motives, and used marketing/charisma to sell an impossible future.

Sometimes I want to ask if we're really this dumb, but God repeatedly says "yes" in the bible, and well, history also bears it out way more often than is flattering for humanity. ๐Ÿ˜”

4. It legit bugs Trump that DC doesn't have a fancy palace with a zone around it that is under tight control. He hates that DC is self-governing. He has repeatedly praised dictators because they have clean streets and no protests when he visits. ๐Ÿ˜ฎโ€๐Ÿ’จ ๐Ÿšฉ

3b. While at the same time, Trump and plenty of others won't disguise their love of violence, and lots of people actually like that (way too many are professing Christians who just want "the best" for our country). Who really believes all men are created equal? Bueller? ๐Ÿ˜’

3a. Many people in this admin genuinely enjoy violence. Some messaging will make sure to use language that points to ideas that one part of their base will hear as good things like authority, cleanliness, order, etc. to disguise their craving for violence, humiliation, control, etc.

12.08.2025 06:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

2. They're testing the waters of how far they can push & what they can take from DC. Trump wants revenge on the people & govt of DC, & with his new cabinet & military leaders, he can at least try. Any push back or protests also provide more distraction and give pretext for more power grabs.

12.08.2025 06:35 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 1    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

1. It's a distraction. The timing tells you it's bogus. DC crime isn't great, but it's relatively normal and trending down. The Epstein stuff won't go away, and fewer people than expected bought his lie about the job numbers. So, why not throw some more spaghetti at the wall, and see what sticks? ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sooo militarizing domestic law enforcement based on false pretenses isn't great. ๐Ÿซ

It's too early to tell if they'll get away with it for very long or not, but there are any number of reasons they might be going down this road, and none of them are good:

He fled Boko Haram and helped build an award-winning restaurant. Now heโ€™s facing deportation. Paul Dama left Nigeria after being kidnapped in 2018. His detention feels like "a second kidnapping," says his sister.

A sign from Dachau depicting the start of moving people from a workhouse to the Dachau concentration camp. The sign reads:

4.3 "Asocials"

In November 1933, hundreds of prisoners from the workhouse Reibdorf( a correctional facility for beggars and so-called "work shy") were brought to the Dachau concentration camp. After that there was a large number of prisoners in Dachau who as "asocials" had been sentenced to "compulsory work" by the police, because their way of life was regarded as non-conform, either because they had previous convictions (petty crimes), or they had failed to pay maintenance fees.

Following the raids on the beggars (particularly in 1936) and the arrest campaign against "asocials" in 1937-38, mainly these people were brought to Dachau. The SS marked their clothing with a black triangular patch and assigned them to the hardest work commandos.

Once you visit a place like Dachau, every last bit of is seared into your mind. After reading that, this sign came immediately to mind.

Never again means never again.

We are very quickly heading down a very dark and terrible road.

Made it a generational thing by switching out all our Amazon streaming subs to fund a monthly donation to our local station. We mostly watched PBS programing on there anyway. Give to your local stations. We can do this people!

I watched my parents start giving to PBS during the funding battles in the 80s/90s. We were always a PBS house, and in spite of people's comments at church about how โ€progressive" the programs were getting, they gave and got their totes. Never ones to waste anything, they used them things too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I get that a lot of us don't have lots of extra $, but if you still pay other streaming services, you've got some $. We cut all streaming subs on Amazon and instead make a monthly donation to our location station. Those other "services" don't usually serve much more than entertainment. Give local โค๏ธ
