She’s really interesting, if a bit of a nuisance. But she certainly makes bangers. She is who I’d like to think younguns are listening to. And she’s absolutely none of my business.

That’s really interesting. I suspect that’s what’s happening in a lot of cases. Kind of insidious in a way, though most of what I’ve heard seems too beige to do any lasting damage. There’s only so much harm that can be caused by repeatedly rhyming ‘car’ with ‘bar’.

And for someone lauded as the current pinnacle of pop royalty, Taylor Swift seems to have about three songs that have entered the collective consciousness.
Every time she releases an album now, reviews suggest she has reinvented artistic expression. Then you hear the songs and they’re just…nothing.

I’m well aware I am not her core audience. But there are infinitely more interesting pop stars of the same ilk - Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, even Chappell Roan, annoying as she is. Pink Pony Club is better than anything Taylor Swift has ever written.

I have regularly listened to and read about music for over four decades. Written about music for magazines and websites. Talked in depth about music with numerous well-known musicians. Made music and owned a record label.
I remain completely and utterly baffled by the phenomenon of Taylor Swift.

Hand the entire royal estate over to Crisis and request the sitting government to abolish the Sovereign Grant, then maybe I’ll listen.
