The police caught him ONE BLOCK from the girl's house.
It immediately made headlines, and the girl's reaction to find out her online beau had come (and failed) to visit?

Kind of like the teenage boy from the Chicago suburbs in mid '96 who had an online girlfriend who lived near Boston. He snuck out, took buses from Chicago to Cleveland to NYC to Boston, and started walking to her house. In the middle of the night.
08.02.2026 16:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I have literally never seen so many warnings about meeting strangers from the internet since 1996-97, when that was still a relatively new thing, and stories about meetings going bad made the national news.
You would think that as often as people meet through the net now, it was the new normal.
Over on Threads, there's a viral post about a woman who decided to fly from NYC to Indiana to drop in on her Threads crush at his job, only to find out he had a local girlfriend.
On one hand, I have to admire this woman's chutzpah.
On the other hand, though?
That moment when you realize that you're only two years older than the late Brad Arnold of 3 Doors Down.
(Two years and five days, to be precise. But 47 is still too damn young to die.)
Two of the YouTube channels I subscribe to post frequent driving videos in and around Chicago.
It's getting me nostalgic again, enough to the point where I often think about moving back there, even though it's much more expensive now, and I have next to no personal ties there.
The man who told reporters itβs time to move on from the Epstein files wonβt shut up about the 2020 election.
07.02.2026 15:18 β π 28333 π 7498 π¬ 584 π 284Americans using the phrase "Bob's your uncle" always throws me off. I can't explain why.
06.02.2026 14:21 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0...so I could actually do my job that day, and not deal with someone who erroneously assumed that I would happily work late every Saturday night just because I didn't have kids. Who was blowing off her own job duties so she could try pressuring me into backing down on the sales floor.
05.02.2026 08:03 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Maybe if the store's management hadn't acted like the cashier (who spent a weekend guilt tripping me into rescinding my request) was the one in charge, and not them, I might have hung around.
But I really should have told that woman to back off instead of trying to diffuse the situation...
When it became apparent they weren't going to honor my request, or my suggestion that everyone should take a turn working late every Saturday night, I walked.
Later, when I told them why I quit, they dismissed that as "such a minor thing".
Bull.
That second job? We had plenty of people to cover late shifts on Saturday nights, and enough of them could be rotated around every week. There wasn't a need to keep scheduling me and ONLY me late that night every week just because one girl couldn't find a babysitter on weekends.
05.02.2026 07:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0So, yeah, the big red dot probably thinks I quit...
I left two jobs for two different reasons: having to relocate from IL to IN in mid-2002; and the other over a dispute over availability with management and one certain cashier in summer of 2004.
"Why did you quit your previous job?"
I didn't. I was a seasonal employee who was told I had a chance to get hired on permanently after Christmas, and despite my best effort, that didn't happen. Technically, I was fired on December 26th, but I didn't show up for my last two shifts out of anger.
Facebook was launched 22 years ago.
Back then, you needed to provide an email address provided by a college or university, which I never had, so I couldn't join until they rescinded that policy a few years later.
I don't think my school ever offered its own email service until after I graduated.
Bugs Bunny is trending.
What, was he in the Epstein files, too?
I certainly can't disagree with this viewpoint.
Hopefully, Apple would roll out a 1 TB model.
Nope, we want it all DEFUNDED and ABOLISHED. ICE, CBP, DHS. Look at the fucking polls of Democratic voters. Your voters, theoretically?!
Stop spending your time siphoning all our money to Netanyahu and be useful for once. You feckless clown.

Also, I'm seeing a lot of posts about kids with "low social skills", and people acting more rude and "feral" since the initial pandemic (which NEVER stopped, by the way).
People were like that before the world changed. I think others just became more aware of it since then.
"What was never the same after the pandemic?"

SHOCKING FEDERAL COURT MOMENT: DOJ attorney Julie Le, "The system sucks, this job sucks" to Judge Jerry Blackwell who pressed her on why so many court orders are being ignored by ICE/Trump admin. She asked to be held in contempt just so she could get 24 hours of sleep. @FOX9
This is unreal. An AUSA talking like that in open court is about as close as you can come to a total breakdown. Never heard of anything like it.

Luckily, things were quickly resolved, and I had no issues with my account.
I mean.
I've said this before but on top of all the other excellences of this album, the bridge where she goes "When - I - think - of - YOU" and into the rest of the bridge alone, that to me is top five all time pop *moments,* if you like. And then from all of this to _Rhythm Nation_ next.

When anyone from SCTV dies itβs like 30 people have died. Every character they created was as alive as anyone else youβve ever met.

So, I either look up a chiropractor, or hire a "cuddle buddy" for a fee for one hour's treatment. This will cost money either way.
