Doing my best to keep calm so I bake bread and pies, cook soups & stews, and wash it all down with whiskey.

Now it's my turn to have a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. May her memory be a blessing.

I listened to your interview today on the radio and heard your voice with that lump in your throat. I also read your beautifully written essay about military Thanksgiving meals. I honor your wisdom and of course your service to our beloved country.

He was a 19-year-old Polish young man. I think back to when I was 19 ... a carefree sophomore in college. I see you today Adam.

I read every word. The little things .. a toaster and a tea kettle ... and the really big things ... time with her family. I'll think of nothing else today except this poignant, beautiful essay.

Oh they look SO yummy! I'll try the apple cake this weekend since we just picked a wad of apples from our friend's tree recently. Thank you for sharing these nice recipes.

For what itโ€™s worth, as a commander and officer it was my duty, moral obligation, and legal requirement to first question and then to not obey any illegal order I was given.

The same is true for everyone who swear their oath.

Hope that clears things up.

Headphones on and still can't keep the noisy people in the other room outta my head. I'm going to turn up the volume when I watch my next episode of Miss Marple solving a vicious crime.

Gotta love how Jon Karl and ABC News had this graphic ready to go *the very moment* that Hassett rolled out his Walmart anecdote.

Thomas Massie tells ABC there could be "a deluge of Republicans" who vote in favor of forcing the Justice Department to release the Epstein files.
ย
"There could be 100 or more. I'm hoping to get a veto-proof majority on this legislation when it comes up for a vote."

Screenshot of a tweet from Joyce Carol Oates posted on Sunday, November 9th that reads "so curious that such a wealthy man never posts anything that indicates that he enjoys or is even aware of what virtually everyone appreciates--scenes from nature, pet dog or cat, praise for a movie, music, a book (but doubt that he reads); pride in a friend's or relative's accomplishment; condolences for someone who has died; pleasure in sports, acclaim for a favorite team; references to history. in fact he seems totally uneducated, uncultured. the poorest persons on Twitter may have access to more beauty & meaning in life than the "most wealthy person in the world."

Found the tweet that Joyce Carol Oates bodied Elon Musk with and it's so beautiful in its eloquent, simple take down. So much so he's crashing out trying to prove he reads books now. Put this in the Louvre.

Although launched by Democratic presidents, the food stamp program saw its largest expansion under the stewardship of a Republican president, Richard Nixon, in the wake of Senator Robert F. Kennedyโ€™s highly publicized trips to the Mississippi Delta and Appalachia, the Poor Peopleโ€™s Campaign of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the 1968 CBS documentary โ€œHunger in America,โ€ which shocked viewers with images of starving children with sunken features and bloated bellies.
โ€œThat hunger and malnutrition should persist in a land such as ours is embarrassing and intolerable,โ€ Nixon asserted in a May 1969 message to Congress that expressed his determination โ€œto put an end to hunger in America for all time.โ€
During the course of Nixonโ€™s presidency, the food stamp program grew fivefold from 3 million recipients in 1969 to 15 million by 1974. โ€œNixon was actually very supportive of many social programs, proposing the Family Assistance Program that would have benefited the working poor and expanding Social Security. Nixonโ€™s expansion of food stamps is in line with his larger efforts,โ€ says Matthew Gritter, a political science professor at Angelo State University and author of the book The Policy and Politics of Food Stamps and SNAP.

The song "In the year 2525" for some reason just popped into my head. Change it up just a little to 2025.
And then there's, "Oh what a night."

I see that CBS chose not to air this part. It probably explains much of what they did decide to air.

The humor, the clarity, the razor-sharp assessment by Obama that itโ€™s all a distraction from their ongoing efforts to make life worse for everyday Americans. More please, President Obama.
