I have a couple of books screenshot from the last list. It was fun to read and I think my days of clinging to the Old Ways are definitely numbered. ๐คญ

31.10.2025 06:15 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0For my #photofriday #histbookchat post I just want to say how much I appreciated the Mawson bookshop. My son and I loved visiting and chatting with David who was always kind and generous with his knowledge and most importantly we bought heaps of great books! All the best to you both, Kristen. ๐ฐ๐
31.10.2025 06:00 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I donโt think Iโm ever going to be lucky enough to come across a copy of that history but Iโm glad you were!
30.10.2025 09:40 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Final proof. Exciting and terrifying in equal measure. #amwriting
26.10.2025 06:40 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Not knowing what youโre doing already I found loading the tendon was easy to follow and made a lot of sense. I also find gently massaging the tendon makes a difference. Most take at least a year to improve. In general take the attributes which make you a great hiker and channel them into rehab. ๐
24.10.2025 23:59 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโve got a few clown shots up my sleeve. Job done. ๐คฃ
24.10.2025 23:53 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was always very curious about Truk and Rabaul. This second book in the trilogy answers a lot of questions. Iโm sure Target will too. Btw, I have been trying to upload a few book pics this week in reply to your last #histbookchat post but Bluesky doesnโt like me very much. I will keep trying. ๐ฉ
24.10.2025 07:29 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I had the pleasure of being in audience. Great talk, Phil! ๐
24.10.2025 05:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Soon Iโll be picking up where Fortress Rabaul leaves off with โTarget: Rabaul - The Allied Siege of Japanโs Most Infamous Stronghold, March 1943-August 1945โ by Bruce Gamble. It is also my humble #photofriday #histbookchat offering this week.
24.10.2025 02:41 โ ๐ 20 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Iโve read โKeep The Men Aliveโ and โStaff Wallahโ is on the TBR and part of my planned reading for next year too.
21.10.2025 20:07 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0You would be amazed at how far I would walk for a peanut butter sandwich. ๐คฃ
19.10.2025 07:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thanks, Kristen. I am encouraged to keep on going! Iโm sure that you would make a great long distance walker given how much you love nature (and cake!). I just donโt recommend smashing your knees. ๐คฃ
19.10.2025 07:18 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Iโll be in the Pacific for the next 3-4 months. Grim reading but it is very interesting.
19.10.2025 02:58 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Youโre not wrong!
19.10.2025 01:15 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0My ruptured achilles and smashed knees have been healing nicely so I started on longer walks a few weeks ago. Iโm up to 17km and absolutely loving it. #walking #rehab
18.10.2025 03:45 โ ๐ 7 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0I have the trilogy on the TBR.
18.10.2025 00:50 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Gamble fills in the historical background behind Rabaulโs crucial role during the first year and a half of the Pacific War. After a brief synopsis of the invasion and the Lark Force story he focuses on the air war over Rabaul from January 1942 to April 1943, when Adm. Yamamato is shot down.
17.10.2025 06:30 โ ๐ 9 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This #photofriday I am reading โFortress Rabaul: The Battle for the Southwest Pacific, January 1942-April 1943โ by Bruce Gamble. This is the 2nd book in Gambleโs trilogy and focuses on the opening phase of the conflict when Rabaul served as a springboard for new Japanese offensives. #histbookchat /2
17.10.2025 06:21 โ ๐ 17 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Still love KISS and listen to them almost daily. Ace was my favourite. </3
16.10.2025 23:32 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have nothing like it on my shelves. A good collection, SC!
10.10.2025 20:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Love a good shelfie, SC. ๐
10.10.2025 08:08 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I was hoping to have found the 2/22nd Australian Infantry Battalion history โLittle Hellโ (Lark Force) by now but unfortunately itโs still on The List. In the meantime I have enough on the shelves for a fairly decent look at the forces inc. infantry battalions, commando squadrons and coast watchers.
10.10.2025 02:32 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This #photofriday I am reading โDarkest Hour: The True Story of Lark Force at Rabaulโ by Bruce Gamble. This is a re-read for me and kicks off a new series looking at Lark, Sparrow and Gull Forces, inc. infantry battalions and other units in New Britain, New Ireland, Timor and Ambon. #histbookchat /2
10.10.2025 02:14 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is where I leave the Broken Eighth and this series which was a fascinating, rewarding and memorable look at the Australian Armoured Corps history, the 4th Anti-Tank Regiment, the 2/3rd and 2/4th Machine Gun Battalions and the 2/15th and 2/14th Field Regiments. Lest we forget. #histbookchat
04.10.2025 06:25 โ ๐ 13 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Thereโs a few Iโm desperate to shift from one list to the other!
03.10.2025 23:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I have a few of his on the TBR but Command In Crisis is one Iโll be looking out for. ๐ป
03.10.2025 09:18 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Funny that, in another life I used to do a lot of public speaking but having just read about the 2/14thโs Honour Guard to the victims of the Tol massacre, and those who died avenging them, I wouldnโt know where to start. Absolutely heartbreaking!
03.10.2025 08:33 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Itโs a real beauty. ๐
03.10.2025 08:22 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0That is on my TBR. What makes Horner your favourite author?
03.10.2025 08:06 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0After discussions, the commanding officer directed that the 2/14th would insert a perpendicular โbreakโ in the colour patch in a vow it would be removed when their comrades were liberated and the Division reformed. Fate decreed otherwise.
