I do wonder if Perry - knowing he didn't have the farm to make the moves to make the Angels true contenders - prioritized his young core playing competitive baseball in AUG/SEP over a marginal return on veterans.

If the plan to compete in '26 (fair or not), I could see the value in that.

Am I crazy to think this isn’t the worst idea? He’s a (recent) former top 100 prospect and we’ll likely need to replace Rengifo and Moncada. Maybe a change of scenery will prove positive?

This is the most fun Angels team in a long time. Find enjoyment in that.

I know they lost but it was rad seeing and hearing the Angels in the Outfield tonight at the Big A.

So much surrounding the Angels is toxic…from the way it’s run to the way the team is covered — that it’s seeped completely into the fan base. So it was nice to see some positivity for a change.

I'm with you. As much as I love Kenley I think I'm fine if he moves. But yeah...this bullpen needed a much needed veteran presence that might actually take pressure off of Bachman and Zef.

It's a smart trade. The bullpen is an absolute mess outside of three (four if you count Bachman) arms. Also gave up nothing to acquire them.

Wouldn't be shocked to see Jansen/Burke moved here.

Angel fans are freaking out that this means the Angels are buying. That may be the case, but trading for these two would not be the signal.

I think it's more likely we're going to see a combination of buying and selling. Maybe this means Burke or Jansen are on the way out?

We'll see.

Will Bremner be better than Anderson or Doyle or Arnold? Who knows. We’d be asking that with anyone we took.

Also - worth remembering they Bremner had buzz as a possible #1 pick coming into 2025. Yeah he struggled a bit - but also dealt with his Mom’s death.

I think it’s worth remembering — especially for Angels fans — that you can’t trade back in the MLB draft. The #2 pick allows you a wider pool of players to pick from.

You take the guy you think fits best regardless of outside arbitrary ranking systems.

Exactly! Also the Bachman draft was the first post-COVID and looks pretty iffy so far.

People are getting bent out of shape over independent rankings. Did I want Anderson? Yep. But if Perry thinks Bremner is his guy I back it. We’ll see where we’re at in 4-5 years.

Ah got it. That’s actually the one fair criticism I see with Trouty (along with maybe the elevated K rate).
