So -- What are Ralstonia and why are they goopy?
Ralstonia are bacterial pathogens of plants. They colonize and clog the water-transporting xylem vessels, causing rapid-onset wilt diseaseโthey can fatally wilt plants within days.

Painting of women in blue garments walking leftward, one woman, and then five behind her, on a flat plain, hazy sky ....
Thanks to my friend Harriet for pointing out that the women went to Christ's tomb and saw he was not there, the angels showed up to describe what happened, & the women then told the apostles, who dismissed them. A Biblical account of women not being believed.

When I was 5, I loved science, which I took to be planets and magnets and chemicals and shit.
Soon I realized science was a collective human activity, and these were just the objects of its attention.
Anyway, whenever I read an OpEd on how science isn't political, I think "Are you 5 years old?"

Highly esteemed Mrs. Curie,
Do not laugh at me for writing you without having anything sensible to say.
But I am so enraged by the base manner in which the public is presently daring to concern itself with you!? that I absolutely must give vent to this feeling. However, I am convinced that you consistently despise this rabble, whether it obsequiously lavishes respect on you or whether it attempts to satiate its lust for sensationalism!
I am impelled to tell you how much I have come to admire your intellect, your drive, and your honesty, and that I consider myself lucky to have made your personal acquaintance in Brussels. Anyone who does not number among these reptiles is certainly happy, now as before, that we have such personages among us as you, and Langevin(3) too, real people with whom one feels privileged to be in contact. If the rabble continues to occupy itself with you, then simply don't read that hogwash, but rather leave it to the reptile for whom i
einstein sent this to curie in 1911 when she was being harassed by tabloids. it contains everything youโd want in such a letter:
(1) your haters are trash
(2) youโre a baller, a true queen
(3) i have determined the statistical law of motion of the diatomic molecule in planckโs radiation field ๐งชโ๏ธ

We are thrilled to announce the launch of an Ecology and Evolution section of microPublication Biology! Please support this new venture as an author, reviewer, and/or promoter!
microPublication Biology publishes single, validated findings that may be novel, reproduced, negative, or are the result of small projects that may not fit into a larger article. The major goal of microPublication Biology is to rapidly place research findings into the public domain. microPublication Biology only accepts original, high-quality data and work, independent of perceived impact. Review and publication standards align with COPE ethical guidelines. All published articles are published in English and are peer-reviewed by at least one expert reviewer.
Articles typically include a short abstract, a main section approximately 1000 words in length, a methods section, one figure (which can have multiple panels), and tables if appropriate.
What types of papers are suitable for microPublication?
- Exciting new research findings or methods that you want to publish rapidly in the public domain.
- Experimental findings derived from small projects.
- Preliminary data to cite in grant proposals.
- Findings included in an existing publication as โunpublished observationโ or โdata not shownโ.
- Publishing results instead of burying them in supplemental materials.
- Nature notes and natural history observations.
- Successful or unsuccessful replication of published work.
- Cautionary information.
- Negative results.
- If the amount of your data does not fit within one microPublication, you can prepare several submissions, each focused on an independent result, and tie the articles together with an Integrations article, which serves as a summary narrative article (see here for an example).
