Journalist challenge: Use “Machine Learning” when you mean machine learning and “LLM” when you mean LLM. Ditch “AI” as a catch-all term, it’s not useful for readers and it helps companies trying to confuse the public by obscuring the roles played by different technologies. 🧪

I've increasingly come to believe that the problem is "grades" themselves, instead of just "is a skill mastered to an acceptable level?" Grades are ceasing to mean that, leading to grade inflation to push people onward. Make everything Pass/Fail. It's about knowledge instead of reward.

Some false reports are circulating that Mt. Rainier is suddenly showing seismic tremor activity — this is not true. The signal being referenced is actually radio interference, most likely due to rime ice buildup on the antenna of one of our seismic stations.
