Why were there no archaeologists involved?
There was so much wrong with this, I despair of the BBC these days but I'm old enough to remember watching things like Chronicle, Civilisation and The Ascent of Man first time round.
No wonder Mary Beard refuses to have anything to do with 're-enactments'.

Fancy being the DG of the BBC, Larry?
No, I didn't think so but that's a shame.

If Tim Davie's too woke then God help us all. I'm the first to criticise the BBC but now is the time to protect proper public service broadcasting against the hordes at the gates

Hampden Park: Could the first international football stadium become flats? The first Hampden Park in Glasgow's Southside is currently the home of a bowling club facing financial difficulties.

It's now at risk of being redevoped as flats, this needs to stopped!

Sometimes called the Laird's Loft with its own entrance, it's something that can be found in a several Scottish churches. Others have box pews to keep the gentry away from the common herd.

The sign writer was tracing that star when I passed by there yesterday, do they still do Β£4 lunches?

Do you mourn a stand-alone RCAHMs as much in England as we do ours in Scotland?

She's a piece of work and deserves all she gets but, why is the most demonised fraudster from this time an uppity working class woman from Glasgow and not any of the posh guys with influential friends? Plenty to choose from, there's a whiff of misogynistic classism about it.

Oh Tony, you will be missed. Not just a first rate archaeologist and inspiring and engaging lecturer but a genuinely nice person, as someone you would not remember, I'd like to say thanks.

Next year will be the 30th anniversary of the Dunblane school massacre. After that we banned all guns in private hands apart from heavily licensed shotguns etc for those who really required them. Result, not a single child has died in a school shooting since.
Your country is barking mad.

Trump definitely didn't write that message himself, it's too coherent and grammatical, but I'll bet he laughed like a drain while he signed it.

I would never, ever, want to read 'suppurating' used to describe a dish I'm being served but it does seem appropriate in this case. But oh, I do love an excoriating review of somewhere that really deserves it and this is one of those.

I think the sub is to blame here, the headline doesn't really reflect the content of the article.

Happy to see there are still foxes in Battlefield, there used to be a family lived in a den under the big bramble bush on the hillside below the college. I would sometimes catch a glimpse of them when I was picking brambles but that's all gone now since the college was extended.

What a pity that Trump will never read those words nor, indeed, understand them should he do so.

Sign the petition: Stop all UK support for the Israeli military in Gaza I've signed a petition calling for Keir Starmer to end all UK military support in Israel.

Israel plans to take over Gaza City. Starmer says their plan is wrong & they must rethink it, but the UK is still supporting Israel with arms sales, training, RAF surveillance flights & more. Sign the petition: tell Keir he MUST end this support: 38d.gs/hwpb?utm_cam...

Sorry but moussaka should be the way I first tasted it 50 years ago - square and just cut from the tray in the glass counter where it sat beside the stuffed peppers and tomatoes. Not too hot and definitely no potatoes, served up on a table in the shade by the quayside. Sigh......

I heard this yesterday with my blood boiling but Connie should never have been allowed to tackle this topic, a wee chat about the price of chips maybe, but she's woefully inadequate at anything at all serious, nuanced or, to be brutal, demanding understanding in depth. That was just embarrassing.
