Dexamethasone has been shown when administered before or at the same time as the first dose of antibiotics to reduce the frequency of hearing loss in Hib meningitis.

💉Virtually no physician or nurse completing training in past quarter century has seen Haemophilus Influenzae type b #Hib. I hope we don’t see a resurgence of this vaccine-preventable infection. Added it to the Sanford Guide to Pediatric Acute Care, just in case.
