End theme to the anime?

Wow, haven't thought about Nightbane in years. Heh, my friend bought the book when it was still Nightspawn before they almost got sued.

Gonna be blunt here: you only have control over your own actions, no one else. So if you leep having problems with communications the only you can do is learn how to work around them yourself. It'd be nice if other people put out the effort but, well, if they don't you're just gonna have to deal.

I get that. I'm one of those people who've always been critical even of things I like, even while watching/reading them. I basically can't engage with any media without pulling it apart. Ironically I'm actually pretty easy to entertain - I just like analyzing things.

Rading the posted abstract it sounds like she probably landed by accident on the closest point to Chile and died of starvation or dehydration. Not really exploration, just accident.

Still, it can be a useful ability to develop if you can handle.

It's hard to develop this awareness or maintain it: seeing so many paths is disorienting and overwhelming, even painful, so few even try except the most powerful and even they acknowledge it might be futile. Sudden unexpected events can change the path entirely and free will as always an issue.

As time moves forward and events happen that potentiality starts collapsing in on itself, potential futures vanishing. The Channeler, with their awareness, can nudge things or even kill off undesired futures entirely with their actions until, at last, all paths converge into one.

In my cyberpunk book? Lolno. It's just humans stumbling around in the dark fucking everything up.

In my Zhiurae setting? Kinda? Channelers have a limited ability to see potentiality: infinite branching paths, some more possible than others. It's not really seeing the future, just hyper awareness.

Also, Ratch would like to date her but he's an idiot and Cassie would rather face-stab him so that also is not gonna happen.

Really, Cassie's not good with the "feelings and hormones" shit and would rather not bother with it at all.

Re: Coralie, she's moderately-wealthy and lives in France on the other side of the world and it's illegal for Cassie to leave her Complex. If she does she'll be shot dead by drones and coyotes will eat her corpse. So, yeah, that's not gonna happen.

She might be dating Coralie, at least in the MMO they play, but she's not sure - waltzing on the shores of a faerie lake certainly felt like a little more than just joking around but who knows. Also, she's intensely attracted to Luke and the fact that he returns it short-circuited her brain.

#awesomecharacters Cassie's love life is uninspiring. Her first boyfriend was a guy she dated for three months, made the mistake of sleeping with, and found out he was a 30-second hero. Put her off that. Her first major crush was actually her cousin Aurelio but he was gay, joined the Army, and died.

Unfortunately I've seen none of them - I really need to get that VPN set up and start sailing the high seas again. I do know, from clips, that Come and See is really harrowing.

Relics are a different story: there's the one that can raise the dead, artificial singularities, teleporters, flying machines, one that makes food, and - most impressive of all - the flying city of Elsewhere (which violates the laws of science). These are rare and some are unreliable though.

The average Channeler is fairly limited: they know a few abilities and can do some impressive things but quickly exhaust themselves. Most Passives can barely even sense Aura much less do much with it.

They can't create though, so no summing swords or creating food (though some can condense water out of thin air), and they can't raise the dead, fly, or teleport (the latter two are technically possible but no one's managed it yet). There is a relic that can raise the dead but it's cantankerous.

At a personal level it's about individual talent, training, and control: how much Aura you can pull in and handle at a time. The power powerful Channelers can lift tons of material, leap hundreds of feat, mind control dozens, burn platoons, and shatter buildings, all in rapid succession.

The Shapers could create life - Zhiuraeans themselves are artificial as are all animals and the Zhagr. They could do a hell of lot, most of it straight up violating the laws of the physical universe as current science understands it.

#febchantment Technically? No. Aura can affect matter and energy down to the quantum level and can act at the macro-scale: the Shapers left Relics that can create objects out of seemingly thin air by rearranging particles and Zhiurae's orbit around the gas giant Ama was changed by them.

What's it about?

As for my chracters? Surveillance is a fact of life and something they try to avoid and get around as much as possible. Propaganda is harder to avoid because it's ubiquitous even in poor areas. They can't trust anything they see online or in the media - it's virtually all AI generated.

Does is exist? Yes.
Would the powers that be like it to not exist? Absolutely.
Are they working on making that happen? Probably

In the meantime they have a massive surveillance network and propaganda machine to make sure people see what they want and act how they want. It's scope is terrifying.

The more powerful Channelers become healers - a very difficult skill - or go into research and engineering.

In the modern day throwing fireballs, shooting lightning, and making shields is worthless: there are guns and armor for that and you can train cannon fodder by the thousands.

Using Auritic tech is, of course, about pressing buttons, flipping switches, and pulling triggers. Anyone can use it, sometimes with minimal training, though Channelers are still required to make and repair the Auritic elements; most Passive-rated Channelers wind up as mechanics or assemblers.

Not all abilities require motion. Reading a person Personal Aura just requires being able to see them and mind-reading (and control) can be done with a glance, or even without seeing. Also, powerful Channelers show off by manifesting power without potion, though this is not safe.

Mekor eventually became more dance-like and performative and modern combat Channelers use more simplified techniques. However, Channelers are too rare to waste on combat and so the vast majority are mechanics, engineers, healers, and researchers.

There are also breathing techniques, including shouts to expel the breath, exercises for physical health, and so on. Evening healing is physical with specific motions to draw Aura through the patients body with the hand and precision work with fingers. Similar techniques were adapting for mechanics.
