I've been checking FERC daily and of course the Vineyard Wind data for Q3 drops on my day off! The project more than doubled the amount of electricity it sold in July, Aug, Sept from the previous quarter. Some quick math: est. 78,000 Massachusetts homes powered @newbedfordlight.bsky.social

Still waiting on FERC data for Vineyard Wind, but South Fork Wind's data for Q3 (July, Aug, Sept) just dropped. It sold about 84,000 MWH of energy over that period. Calculation for Long Island, NY, homes powered: ~39,200 homes @newbedfordlight.bsky.social

Gun found with suspect registered to New Bedford police officer - The New Bedford Light
A police internal investigation is underway to determine how the firearm came into the possession of a suspect charged with drug and intoxication offenses.
New Bedford PD announced it charged a man for possession of drugs and a loaded firearm while intoxicated. What the press release doesnβt state is that the firearm, a handgun, is registered to a New Bedford police officer

Offshore windβs effects on fish wonβt be studied due to federal cuts - The New Bedford Light
The canceled study, which would have employed New Bedford fishermen, is one casualty of $7 billion in clean-energy funding cuts in Democrat-led states.
A project that would've studied how offshore wind projects affect commercial fish species is now dead in the water after the DOE funding cuts. A New Bedford fisherman who was set to participate said he joined the study b/c he wanted answers on impacts on the species he fishes.

BOEM to consider revocation of SouthCoast Wind approval - The New Bedford Light
If a federal judge approves the request, it could deal a critical blow to the offshore wind project located 20 miles south of Nantucket.
The Interior Department agency regulating #offshorewind development asked a federal judge on Thursday to allow the reconsideration of a key approval for the SouthCoast Wind project. If approved, it could deal another blow to the beleaguered project.

Clarification: BOEM has asked to re-open/reconsider its review of the permit. Depending on what they determine, it *could* result in revocation or an approval with different conditions attached to it.

π¨BOEM today filed a motion to remand SouthCoast Wind's COP approval. This reflects the significant role lawsuits against offshore wind projects are now playing in the efforts to halt project development. This suit was brought by the Town of Nantucket:

In recent filings for Revolution Wind, the fed gov discusses possible remand of the project's COP. This isn't entirely surprising, given the mandated review of pending litigation, but this is the first I've seen it discussed explicitly for Revolution Wind: storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The nonprofit organization, Health Imperatives, is one of only 3 organizations nationally that have been named by the federal government as being "prohibited entities" for reimbursement. The other two are a family planning clinic in Maine, and Planned Parenthood. Why?
