Yesterday was a long but meaningful day at the Capitol advocating against vouchers before the Senate Education Committee. Grateful for the time shared with Hutto ISD Trustee James Matlock and the incredible women of @accessrrisd.bsky.social

On Tuesday, @txfreedomread.bsky.social along with 33 partners & allies- who represent Texas parents, students, authors, librarians, educators, grandparents & concerned citizens- sent a joint letter to our elected leaders.

We, at Access Education RRISD, feel it is imperative to defend the right to read at every available opportunity. Representation in books is often a lifeline for many students, and so, a diverse selection of reading materials is needed to serve all students.

If passed, Proposition A will provide Round Rock ISD school employees with the vital salary increases that the state refused to fund, with all tax revenue staying here in RRISD – while still keeping our tax rate low!

Despite a historic budget surplus, the TX lege refused to increase funding for education. In order to give our teachers and staff a much needed raise, we’ll need to show our support at the ballot box this November and vote Yay for Prop A!
