Schneider has been throwing Randy Johnson-level heat in the 1st round since 2022. What a run he's been on.

09.02.2026 17:48 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The good news: the Eagles don't necessarily need a star TE for this offense to work.
The bad news: they do, however, need a virtually new position group.
Great stuff as always by @phillywannabgm.bsky.social!
Thinking about how a TE with a Brent Celek-esque skillset would be perfect for this roster right about now.
08.02.2026 20:15 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Jalon Walker is good, and Ulbrich is adept at manufacturing pressure. But yes, certainly need a true rush DE again.
08.02.2026 15:49 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Appreciate this answer. Reading the Will and meeting the secondary support with pullers makes a ton of sense in open field, while mixing in some attacker RPOs with downhill runs in RZ.
I also think a well-timed ZR Dbl Bluff from Snug 2x2 dressed with F Escort could be a money situational call.
The very definition of a heel, for better and for worse
08.02.2026 04:16 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Masterful as always, Cody. Have a question: Given how teams have utilized Cover 6/8 and man-to-zone disguises to get numbers to Maye's Alert/#1 in progression, and also how good Seattle is at spilling runs from split-safety, I expect a few QB runs in gameplan for NE. What do you think these will be?
08.02.2026 03:35 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0System: [McVay] 14 WAS
Play: [21] 18-19 Sift (Can) 19-18 Weak
Family: [Run] WZ (Slice)/WZ (Lead)
Strategy
(1) CAN: when SS in box.
(2) WEAK: block weakside LB.
Question: Solve -1 in box with extra blocker, extra play in huddle, or QB read?
System: [McVay] 14 WAS
Play: [21] (Toss) 18-19 (F) Sift (ALERT Short)
Family: [Run] WZ (Slice)
Strategy
(1) SIFT: backside EMOL.
(2) ALERT SHORT: when soft playside EMOL.
(3) F (SIFT): hold backside LB.
(4) TOSS: pull frontside LB.
Question: Real 21 personnel, or multi-back sets from 11/12?
It's Always Sunny: The Gang Goes Shanahan/McVay
(An Off-Season Thread)
One install per post.
One strategy per install.
One real off-season question for this offense.
The goal: to be the definitive source on the Shanahan/McVay system for Eagles fans across the Delaware Valley. Hope you enjoy!
It's easy to get lost in weeds with all of the tags and techniques, so I try to view and explain things with a Lego Brick mentality. Any topic, really.
It helps me a lot - and I hope others can benefit from it too.
Honestly, being able to spell things out like this helps me learn better, in any subject area. I like to think if I can explain it simply, I internalize the info better.
And I'm all about helping peeps become more educated fans. That's my greatest joy in all of this.
RB aiming point is the difference here. Wide Zone = Outside Hip of (Ghost) TE, whereas Outside Zone = Sideline.
Remember those shotgun run plays the Eagles spammed in 2022 with the 2-man levels (seam/glance + short in) RPO backside? Those were OZ.
WZ is cutback-centric. OZ is point-and-shoot.
Jalen on this keeper off of it too, with Smitty running the high corner and AJ running the low cross (insert chef's kiss)

05.02.2026 20:16 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0This is where I'm looking forward to Grizzard's influence showing itself. Learned from two crack toss maestros in Coen and McDaniel, and there are so many ways to manufacture numbers on that play (especially if you already have +1 with a mobile QB, which we obviously do).
05.02.2026 20:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0You and me both.
I'll do you one better - why not Crack Toss?
Man/perimeter runs are a much better fit for the OL than Wide Zone IMO as it stands today.
I see what you're getting at now. Essentially the backside equivalent of the Log technique you see with the kick blocker on Counter, just one gap in.
This is absolutely viable - and honestly, you can run Windback or Zone Bluff off of it very easily. I think Greg Roman did this with Lamar in BAL.
Similar frontside action to this, just with X in a nasty split replacing the playside TE here.
05.02.2026 19:33 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The only caveat: need to find a way to widen the playside DE since this design is intended to hit frontside. I'd probably add a bluff crack from X to make DE think jet sweep. Otherwise you have to add a TE frontside and won't have the lighter defensive personnel you need to run this play.
05.02.2026 19:23 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 3 ๐ 0Most definitely. Midzone path for RB, and can run the same fast motion opposite the H-back you see in the play from the Bills game.
05.02.2026 19:12 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Bingo. Any nickel blitz or weak safety rotation must be handled by Z.
05.02.2026 18:43 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The proper way to create angles for this play is with Counter motion from the H-back. Have the jet element of this play become a post-snap bluff Slide route instead and have the backside WR aggressively crack down via any rotation.
(Shoutout to the great Bobby Peters and his 23 Packers O manual.)
This is the good stuff. Can someone please hire @phillywannabgm.bsky.social to run a defense?
05.02.2026 13:33 โ ๐ 8 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 02 open surfaces. 1 backside WR too tight. 0 inserts.
What could go wrong against this look?
"Burn After Reading" = underrated movie. Love the Coen brothers.
"The Big Lebowski" is also one of my 5 favorite flicks. And it's not 5 (lol).
Fear not, for Sean Mannion and the Packers were 31st in hitch route utilization last season

At long last, the Shanahan/McVay system has found its way to South Philly. I'm excited to teach the foundation of the offense for the casual fan, as well as to share play designs from this system that we'll be seeing come September. The best is yet to come!
