A Celebrated French Writer Loved Russia. War Forced a Reckoning.

www.nytimes.com/2025/11/03/w...
It is possible to overcome the infatuation with Russia and see it for what it is - a ruthless murderous empire β€œ...however shocking it may be to say this about an entire people, one can still love some Russians, but one can no longer love Russia.

The Man to Blame For Brexit? | Michael Gove
YouTube video by The Rest Is Politics: Leading The Man to Blame For Brexit? | Michael Gove

It's very brief and you could miss it after 1.5 hours (maybe Alastair and Rory did miss it), but at 1:30:00, Michael Gove admits that he and Vote Leave did not spell out the trade-offs involved in leaving the EU.

You don't say.

Notable in today's YouGov that the centre/left bloc - Lab/Green/LD/SNP are on 54%. With Reform/Tories on 43%. That's the biggest differential in a long time.

I think useful to track blocs given instability between parties at the moment.

I continue to wonder when Americans will decide enough is enough. As Frederick Douglass reminds us:

Brexit was not a one-off hit. It’s bleeding us money and lost opportunity every day we stay in it.
