Here is my short overview of the Baltics' preparedness to monitor/ prevent hybrid threats, with a little emphasis on Latvia. I still believe Lithuania is currently the best prepared, but all three Baltic States are relatively advanced in this field.

Merz just said on German TV that the primary priority of his government will be to ensure that Europe can achieve full strategic independence from the United States in the defence against Russia.

Merz was once a die hard Atlanicist. Now, after Trump he is a Gaullist.

As Germany is heading to the ballots, here is again what to watch out for today as Europeans.

Two things will be important: 1) Will a stable two-party coalition be possible? 2) Will a constitutional blocking minority emerge against a debt brake reform and/or another special fund for defence?

The timing is highly unfortunate for Georgia. With Europe's eyes on Ukraine and protecting ourselves from Putin without US guarantees, no free hands in Brussels, Berlin, Warsaw or Vilnius to continue pushing for new elections in Tbilisi.
