How at 5am are Claudeβs servers so overwhelmed that it has failed 5 times in a row?
09.05.2025 09:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Passed my AIGP exam! I donβt know what to do with myself now that Iβm not study.
04.05.2025 15:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0About 40 hours deep into studying for the AI Governance Professional AIGP certification and Iβm starting to find policy documentation interesting.
04.05.2025 08:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Aravind Srinivas, you either donβt know or care about what your users want. We donβt want to be tracked.
We want privacy and security.
We want to use apps without our data bought and sold.
We are people.
You donβt get to treat us like we are only worth the profits you will make from us.
What happens when a platform prioritizes growth over safety?
I looked into Snapchatβs transparency reports, lawsuits, and moderation failuresβand the numbers are worse than you think.
After seeing it referenced in so many pieces, I finally ordered βThe Age of Surveillance Capitalismβ, but I didnβt think to check the length.
Only 650 pages of existential dread!
Decades of progress is being erased in front of us.
If we come out the other side, how long is it going to take for us to rebuild to where we were a year ago.
I signed up for Coursera Plus because the $50 a month is well worth what Iβve gotten out of it.
A sincere thank you to the colleges that have posted their courses online.
College is wasted on the young.
When I was in college, I couldnβt wait for it to be over. But now, there is nothing I love more than taking college classes.
This transfers the some of the risk and support costs.
But depending on the level of customization, this could still boil down to the ROI.
Youβll may still face a trade off between how much you want to invest to make the product effective (accurate/efficient)
Plus the added cost to maintain and support the tool. When companies are cutting costs and laying off employees, to tell them to invest instead is going to be an uphill battle.
Alternatively companies selling SaS AI products are going to make a killing.
The cost per token may be cheap. But the cost to develop an idea through the lifecycle from POC to a functioning effective AI production tool is expensive.
Iβm not sure how many companies are going to be willing to invest the money and time in this current market.
I was starting to look into Masters degrees in AI Ethics / Governance. But after seeing the $45-50k price tag, I donβt know how people financially do it.
So letβs hope that my Tech work experience and a few certifications in AI Ethics will be enough for recruiterβs AI not to toss my resume.
The inequality gap between those who own the means of production and the general worker is not sustainable. AI will further impact the labor force. Efforts need to be developed now to help counteract the instability.
18.04.2025 19:12 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've been reading about how public policies, similar to those used during the Great Depression, should be used to minimize the coming impact of inequality caused by AI. These may include:
- Education for job transitions
- Unemployment
- Social services (health insurance not tied to employment)
Why we should all be concerned about LGβs plans for AI-powered TVs aim to personalize ads by analyzing your emotions.
18.04.2025 13:04 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Racial bias in real estate isnβt new. AI can perpetuate it at an unprecedented scaleβbut it can also help expose it.
17.04.2025 20:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If you are looking to hear to ramblings of someone who works in Tech and is working through how AI impacts society?
Congrats, youβve come to the right place!
Iβm almost nervous to ask but anyone have any good βIntro to Philosophyβ recommendations?
17.04.2025 09:37 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sometimes itβs just not necessary to use overly complex language in your work. If I have to translate what you are trying to say, youβre not helping your argument.
16.04.2025 18:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This FTC vs Meta lawsuit is the epitome of technology moving faster than regulations. This case was brought 3 years ago, the world is in a much different place.
Breaking up monopolies is important, but we need to prioritize passing regulations on targeted ads.
Itβs been about 2 weeks of minor frustrations and fiddling around. But itβs not the AIβs fault, if Iβm unclear on what I want.
This has taught me so much about how to work better with AI in the future.
So when it finally gave me a format I liked, I updated the task to use that moving forward.
Next I realized the topic was ONLY on Ethical AI. I intended that to mean pieces in the Ethical or Responsible AI space, but the model doesnβt work like that. So I updated the topics the articles can cover.
So I told it to not duplicate articles. Great, this helped for a bit but it still will repeat occasionally.
The next issue was the format. Every day the format would be different. Bullet points, paragraphs, missing publishing date, poor descriptions, or maybe even missing the key points.
Every day at 5am I have ChatGPT send me articles on Ethical AI. Even this small task has help me recognize the importance of structuring prompts. We started with:
βCan you email me 2-4 research articles on Ethical AI every day at 5am?β
This was great until I realized it was repeating pieces.
βPhilosophy is just critical thinking on steroids.β
I think Philosophy seems too overwhelming and abstract for most people (including myself). But this might be a great way to explain it in a way that makes it more accessible.
The American brain drain is under way.
15.04.2025 13:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve been using ChatGPT to preview research articles by summarizing them first so I know if theyβre worth the deep read. Just dropped five new article my reading list.
Donβt ask how many are in the list.
βWhy you should still fight for liberal democracyβeven if your current president is a dimwit. Even if you think that the current or past government have ruined your country. Even if you feel unrepresented. Even if you suspect your society has been hacked. Even if you distrust your fellow citizensβ
