(Obvious disclaimer that I worked for great bosses/companies and there are def. ppl who get unnecessary flak for requesting accommodations, but it's usually because of stigma and not actual hardship on the company)

In my job, I train a lot of people. I tell them to stop rushing, because errors made in haste take so much effort to clean up. I prefer accuracy over speed. Getting people to stop thinking metrics and to start thinking consequences is hard!

I train a lot of ppl in my position. I tailor my teaching style to accomm learning disabilities. -Every- person I have trained has expressed sincere gratitude for the style I use, because, turns out, neurotypical ppl can benefit from the strategies too

Fr. Many things are negotiable. My manager asked my team to start a new task. I said yes BUT given the workload, asked if we could stop a diff task. If you have a good manager, they listen and problem solve with you. Since leaving school, I have never had someone push back on my request for accomms.

What we consider an "accommodation" is biased. Glasses are an accommodation - they help correct a deficit. But if the thing that helps you is taking a test in a quiet room, suddenly that's "cheating".

People drone on about school deadlines, but in the real world, ppl get extensions all the time

A friend's brother was detained. He is an American citizen with indigenous ancestry. I guess someone thought he didn't look white enough. Being a citizen or carrying your papers with you will not protect you.

Xenophobia aside, those 100 million people are also vital to the economy. They are buying groceries, driving cars, using the internet, etc. They are generating demand for goods and services. You really don't want rapid population shrinkage, especially among working age/tax paying age people
