Next: Maynard Ferguson “Color Him Wild”. From 1964. Not cool jazz. Or smooth jazz. 14 man big band. Maynard was never afraid to be exciting.

Getz/Gilberto. An entrance level jazz record if there ever was one. Stan Getz, one of the great tenor saxophonists, combines with Brazilian musicians to bring Bossa Nova to the wider world.

Today’s gym album: Jefferson Airplane “Surrealistic Pillow”. Interesting interplay of voices, and guitar solos.

No, I won’t watch the state of the union. I can’t stand the sight and sound of that man. I also expect his lies to be even less coherent than in the past.

Sort of reviewing rock music of the 1960s. At the time I was a kid living in a new subdivision out in the middle of nowhere outside of Chicago. So, mostly what I knew of these bands were what was on the radio. Hit singles, basically. Whole albums can be revelatory.

The Beatles were and still are unique. Even their “tribute” bands don’t sound like them.

Jefferson Airplane “Crown of Creation”. 1960s psychedelic rock. Ranged from spooky to weird.

Added a Taylor 12 string acoustic guitar to my collection.

Oddly, it doesn’t appear that anyone makes exclusively acoustic guitars anymore. Everything, seemingly, is acoustic-electric.

Liking my 12 string electric guitar so much I’m thinking of getting an acoustic 12 string as well.
