I like but do not love those movies. I do LOVE the looney tunes-ass ending of Creep 1 though.
I feel like the Creep Tapes found the perfect format for this concept. Very excited for the new season.

Twin Peaks, horror, books, psychotronalia. He/him.

A couple books I picked up at Recycle Bookstore. Cycle of the Werewolf by Stephen King, and Ed Wood: Nightmare of Ecstasy by Rudolph Grey.
My hand holding a small tub of garlic ice cream. Through my big-stained windshield you can the roadside stand I bought it from.
Back home from our night in Napa. Made sure we passed through San Jose to stop at the incredible Recycle Bookstore.
Then stopped at a roadside stand in Gilroy (the garlic capital of the world) for some garlic ice cream. An odd experience at first but surprisingly delicious.

18.10.2025 01:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I suspect the MAGA government decided to launch all these Bluesky accounts tonight to try to bait people in advance of No Kings.
These people have incurable 4chan brain and this is how they operate.
Block them. Do not engage. Do not give them what they want.
It was a six hour drive to get here, but weโve checked into the hotel, scarfed some delicious pad Thai, and now weโre inside and getting ready for the show!
@ambergir.bsky.social is inside getting our seats while I contemplate spending our life savings on some cool merch.

17.10.2025 07:56 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0One of my college radio shows was a Japanese music show. Shonen Knife became one of our most played artists, with One Week pretty much becoming our theme song for awhile.
Terrific fun finally catching them in person.
Naoko Yamano of Shonen Knife performing onstage. Holding a guitar and her hair is hanging in front of her face.
Wide shot of the stage. All three members are visible. Naoko and Atsuko Yamano are holding their left hands up, pointing skyward. Risa Kawano is playing drums in the background.

A few shots from Shonen Knifeโs show tonight at the Roxy.
If not my favorite concert of the year, it was definitely the most fun. Just pure joy from start to finish. Another one I canโt believe I got to see live.
I did alter my list a little because I wanted it to be representative of all my main genres. Still kind of failed a bit, but I had to get a surf group in there.
Suede stands in for all the 90s British bands I was big into.
Define your music taste with 8 artists.
Canโt think too hard otherwise Iโll be at this all day.
Radiohead
The Cure
NIN
Suede
Tori Amos
REM
The Mountain Goats
Manโฆ or Astro-Man?
The KD Lang song over the end credits would have made a much better theme as well.
16.10.2025 05:25 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I was honestly kind of hyped for this one when it came out. The writer gave some interviews where he clearly got what the assignment was and seemed very protective of the property. The effects looked amazing. But then the finished product was justโฆ itโs fine.
15.10.2025 00:47 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I watched a video breakdown showing the ADI guys at the premiere talking about how proud they were of the work and complementing the CGI touchups. Post premiere interviews imply they hadnโt yet seen how fully their work had been erased.
15.10.2025 00:46 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Did you ever see any of the effects footage that ADI put out showing their work on The Thing? They shot everything practical but then in post the director or studio decided it needed to look more modern so they basically replaced the stuff with CGI.

I went into this so blind I didnโt know it was a creature feature. The blurb I read made me think it was a cultist movie with no supernatural elements. The first time a tentacle showed up I may have shouted โholy shit yes!โ out loud, alone in my living room.

14.10.2025 00:45 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Dude youโre speaking my language. Iโm sure Iโll be plenty inspired by your viewings to revisit/discover plenty of stuff next year.
13.10.2025 04:55 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Good damn choice. I need to be watching more classic horror this year.

Phantasm Oblivion. Itโs kind of half a film, more build up to part 5 than a story on its own. But I do really love it.
It brings the dreamlike tone to the fore, using deleted scenes from 20 years earlier to emphasize the toll this has taken on our heroes, resulting in a pretty elegiac tone.
Yeah. My original skeet referred to the film as โAnthony Leroyโs Bumโ but then I was like โno, wait, I have UK mutuals.โ
12.10.2025 08:30 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Itโs not on shudder, Iโm not sure if itโs ANYWHERE right now. It was part of a 24 hour horror stream that was showcasing some weird and rare films. Itโs also where I saw Harvest Brood.
Secretcinematheque.com I think itโs still going for a few more films, but Iโm tapped out for the night.
Still I would recommend. Thereโs really funny stuff, including a great turn by the director himself. Theres also amazing gore and effects and some truly great visuals.
Iโll watch it again when Iโm a little less tired and quick to frustration. Also, @shudder.com, give Anthony Leroy a VHS segment!
Thereโs some really funny stuff in here but after awhile it just started to grate. Also I was confused by the films messaging: itโs a critique of our tendency to demonize and punish the homeless, but when we see homeless people theyโre all baby stealing murderers, so whatโs the film saying?
12.10.2025 08:20 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Cover for the film Bum (2025)
Caught another SOV found footage horror tonight; Bum (2025).
Saw people saying this is the best VHS segment not in a VHS movie, and thatโs accurate. Maybe would have been better in that format. As it is, the filmโs tone is so dialed up that I started to get tired by the half hour mark.
I rented this when I was 16, managed to sneak it past the clerk despite the โadults onlyโ sticker. Watched it while suffering the affects of some bad Mongolian beef.
Itโs not the movies fault, but it was the last time I vomited for 17 years, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.
I started this one a bit late, and I almost turned it off for that reason. But something about the SOV look, the haunted tone, the grimy gore, instantly grabbed me. Glad I stuck with it.
Still a work in progress, the completed film should be available later this month. Worth hunting down!
Ah joined too lateโฆ Iโll try to catch the next one on time.
12.10.2025 02:53 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0This is THE movie. The movie that got me into horror movies after being too scared of them for my childhood. I love it so much. Got me into Barkerโs books, wrote him a fan letter in the 90s (he replied, twice!).
Thereโs one thing I donโt like about that cut, but otherwise itโs such an improvement!
