I have now caught up on Heated Rivalry. I have mixed feelings about the books but I like the show overall. Two things I like the best: The characters are big on enthusiastic consent and it did capture how tough it is to be closeted in a macho world. It kind of put it through a het romance lens

Heated Rivalry does remind me of my journey through queer fic. When I was first questioning my gender identity I read a lot of MM. But I couldn't relate to a lot of it. Then I switched to sapphic, and since so much of it is ownvoices rep, I saw myself more in their flexibility with gender roles
