Queer Canadian Quaker. Former Montrealer living in Ottawa. No chill. Prepping for Tuesday, because saving the world is unglamorous. She/her. I like my angels the way I like my coffee: COVERED IN BEEEEEEES!

11.02.2026 23:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0OH, AND!
This is not to say you will be perfect. You will make lots of mistakes, and that is fine too! The important part is not NOT making mistakes, but how you deal with the aftermath of your mistakes. As long as your kid knows you love and support them, that is 99% of it.
FWIW my mother raised me while dealing with likely C-PTSD and an undiagnosed anxiety disorder and very likely autism/other neurospiciness (she's a WWII refugee among other things) and she did JUST FINE. You will be fine too, and so will the tadpole. β€οΈ

But honestly, no, I am not surprised. Canadian content got SWAMPED by US content with the advent of widespread internet access and no cancon laws to regulate that shit. Alas.
The ski jumping this year has had two separate scandals involving men's crotches (one more valid than the other). It is WILD out there!

03.02.2026 17:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Our PM just bragged about cutting taxes at Davos! Isn't he great! Isn't giving tax breaks to the rich so much better than providing robust social services to all? SO COOL.
03.02.2026 17:48 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Cutting jobs in the public service is the ONLY way Canada can balance the books, didn't you know? There certainly are no other options (like maybe not subsidizing oil companies and other corporations for no return on investment at all). Nope. No options whatsoever. OH WELL. π€·ββοΈ

25.01.2026 18:26 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There have been a lot more than "two so far." It just so happens that those two are white, and that's why they're making headlines. ICE has killed a lot of people that no one ever bothers mentioning.

Luckily where I am isn't getting a ton of snow or ice so far, just very cold temps, and we're (mostly) equipped for that.
What do they think their slogan means? Are they thinking of martyrdom? Something else? I'm not following their reasoning at all.

18.01.2026 03:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0As far as I can tell they got married in 2009 and are still together (that last part is a little more hazy), and "Peter Pan" is now in his seventies.
I don't know exactly why I went looking, but it was reassuring to see that the whimsy lives on in that corner of the internet. π
I remembered that he'd found his Tinkerbell, and I wondered if they'd stayed together after all these years. I went hunting and, one Google search later, the website still exists! It has been updated to keep up with tech, but it's fundamentally the same.
18.01.2026 00:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I randomly remembered a website my friends showed me about 25 years ago when I was at university, about a dude who spent his life cosplaying/living as Peter Pan and looking for a "Tinkerbell" to be his girlfriend (interestingly, not Wendy).
