So, no. I'm not a Nazi. LOL. I just believe in democratically elected and collectively maintained government. What's going on now massively sucks, but the kind of mass destruction some people seem to want won't make things any better.

There are a hundred potential resistance paths via a 23-state alliance like that, and none of them would be possible without the people who elected those Democrat governors and state leges in the first place. Congress can't save us bc we're outnumbered there, but the CA State Assembly might.

A general strike won't work here because very few people are in a union, and there's no backup way to keep millions of people fed and house when they have no paycheck coming in.

But an economic blockade at Pacific ports? Now that's a much bigger deal.

But, as I've noted before, one of the options we have right now that has the greatest chance of success is itself a boring, civic one that is possible only because of voting: A formal, blue-state alliance to create pressure via economic and other coordination.

I don't like the slow pace of incremental progress more than anyone else. And given that the GOP owns the entire federal government and has thrown the Constitution out the window, getting us out of this current dire state is going to take more than just voting in better people (if we can even vote.)

But this isn't a binary choice. We have way more options than totalitarian oligarchy, totalitarian "communism" or pure anarchy. Being opposed to any of those things doesn't mean one favors one of the others.

Obviously, it's not necessary to have unregulated capitalism to have those benefits of modern society. On the contrary, without regulation administered via democratically elected government, capitalism kills. Would never say otherwise.

You can't have cancer treatment and antibiotics without modern industry and infrastructure. You can't have genuine justice without collective organization to set and enforce rules. You can't properly feed large populations without large-scale agriculture. Accept those realities and work within them.

I get that the idea of a totally free society where everyone has a light job and we subsist on mutual aid sounds nice. But it's not reality. In the tiny, low-tech communities that operate that way (historically or now), the rate of death and suffering is very, very high.

Violent revolutions almost never come with lasting, positive change that serves everyone. Sustainable government comes only from everyone pitching in via democracy and the hard, boring work of day-to-day management of civic systems. Someone always has to fill potholes and keep the sewers running.
