New platform integrates gene perturbation data The Perturbation Catalogue provides user-friendly access to human gene perturbation, variant analysis, and expression data.

The Perturbation Catalogue is here!

A new platform unifying perturbation data from CRISPR screens, multiplexed variant effect assays and gene expression data in one place.

The beta version is now live. Find out more and try the platform:

Tenet review: Christopher Nolan's thriller is a palindromic dud If the long-awaited sci-fi from the Inception director restarts the summer of cinema it will go down as his finest hour. But Tenet is far from his finest work

Just gave up watching the awful and incomprehensible #Tenet and found this @TheGuardian.com review from 5 years ago.
"Iโ€™m not even sure that, in five yearsโ€™ time, itโ€™d be worth staying up to catch on telly"

Obviously a message from the future

The UK BioBank continues to provide the "default human" baseline for the world - this has really stimulated research worldwide (UK included), crowded in a huge amount of additional investment into the UK BioBank from across the world and also means that research (basic+applied) is rooted in UK data

Weโ€™ve also heard from 10X Genomics, Ultima Genomics and Single Genomics. Now the eagerly awaited talk about Roche SBX (Nanopore expandomer) sequencing from Bernd Timmerman. Showing weโ€™ve come a long way from the early days of NGS. I still have fond memories of 454.

Great start to #GenomeScience25 with a fascinating history of Crick and then @minomatt.bsky.social describing the amazing application of #nanopore in brain tumor classification.
Now we have condensed updates from the tech companies.

We also have to overcome risk-averse data governance challenges, and take a system-wide view of health economics to allow savings made by #genomics to be fed back to support its implementation.

But the potential benefits are massive. I support the vision and will try hard to help deliver it.

Not everything will deliver, and we need to reflect on priorities in an economically difficult climate. The #genomics itself is almost the easy part. To create the most clinical benefit, we will have to connect genomics with outcome data in national IT projects (to date, not our forte)

The governmentโ€™s strong support for genomic healthcare in the 10 Year Health Plan is a vote of confidence in the power of genomics to transform lives. We are excited about the role we will play in bringing this to life.

At no point in this study did I use AI. This includes the literature review, logical organization, writing, analysis, and proofreading. I do not cite any studies that use AI, to the extent that it is possible to know.

Yesterday I used this "AI -Free Statement" in a conference talk for the first time. Still trying to figure out the exact language.

We're grateful for her tireless commitment in supporting #BowelCancer research.

Her Bowel Babe Fund is helping ICR's Professor Trevor Graham to understand how bowel cancer cells change as they develop around the body.

I'm not against preventative screening, if done appropriately, but all this money for preemptive WGS at a time when our budget for #genomic testing patients *who actually have a disease* is being cut by 10%?
Explain that to me someone.
