Again, there are funding lapse exemptions for critical operations at all federal agencies. It’s a lie or failure to understand how federal agencies work to say the Coast Guard would cease operations. Congress should know that.

However, it is also true that refusing to fund DHS will not cause the Coast Guard or FEMA to cease lifesaving operations. FEMA COREs are separately funded and all agencies have shutdown exemptions for critical functions.

The shutdown impacts some, but not all, PFTs at FEMA. There are exemptions for every agency conducting essential lifesaving operations, so it’s false that denying ICE $ means FEMA and the Coast Guard cease operations. 2/2

The Disaster Relief Fund is a separate pot of money used for recovery following federally declared disasters, as well as paying CORE personnel. CORE employees continue to work during government shutdowns. It is not true that FEMA stops functioning during a federal funding lapse. 1/

May every ICE employee who is supporting operations, because they’re garbage humans or “just doing their jobs,” never know a moment of peace or be welcomed by any community for the rest of their existence for being a part of this insurrection against the American people.
