By no means is street parking "free" but if you own a house on that street and pay property taxes to the city that maintains that road, it should be included in said property taxes. Like I said, one car per home free (or covered under the city taxes that are paid)

Not really. Parking in off street lots mean they are being maintained, probably have electrical plug ins for block heaters, have the snow cleared and some type of "security" to stop people from parking in your spot. Street is street. None of those luxuries.
