I’m gutted (once again) but what a basho! What looked like a foregone conclusion of Onosato dominance turned in to the 21 year old Ukrainian grabbing the championship.
Cheering for Hoshoryu to make his back to back jun-Yusho into a Yusho!

I would not be surprised if day 7 of the Kyushu basho goes down as the best day of sumo for the tournament. Bout after bout of astounding manoeuvres.

Akua when he was salaried sported a light green mawashi. Pretty certain Chiyomaru as well.

Maybe it’s them being too inspired by Maya and wanting to emulate the poor frame rate as well? :D

Rakanji does a great job as the bow twirler! Always fun to see the difference between someone who does it out of obligation versus enjoyment :)

I would posit it’s the inverse, an act of mercy that people do actually use it after the colossal a mismanagement of money.

Now, what would be the most depraved September banzuke-take you ask? Triple sekiwake, triple komusubi! Takayasu joins the rank of sekiwake and Aonishiki, Abi and Tamawashi takes the bottom row. The JSA wants another Ozeki even if it kills them, and the more sanyaku the fewer the kinboshi.

Even if the rikishi I personally root for didn’t win, the Nagoya 2025 basho was amazing. Rare winning techniques, upsets, come from behind victories, questionable judges decisions and more!
All this and we got Murray Johnson commentating on the last day, which is icing on the cake :)

The longest prelude to the tachiai I think I have ever seen. Hopefully Kusano won’t let him get away with it next time, because that’s change in pace caught him off guard.

Everything from the tachiai to just getting his preferred grip while blocking WMH was amazing !

Made for great tv, and honestly, seeing you guys get any extra resources is always good!

I might be wrong but it’s Shonnanoumi left of the cameraman and Kawazoe there. I’m not sure if the person in glasses to the right of the cameraman is Roga.

Is it about funny ways of pronouncing Paris? I will chime in and say that Swedish people puts emphasis on the i and pronounce the s.

Ah gotcha. That’s exciting then for a possible M8 to K1W :D

If Abi wins, you don’t see Wakatakakage becoming komusubi east and just let Abi back in? We’ve had static sanyaku ranks before and it doesn’t impede any Ozeki runs either, so doesn’t feel too out of the realm of possibility.
