Here's my vibe check from my time at Tokyo Game Show 2025, which was a complete 180 from the last time I attended the show, and just shows a Japan back at the absolute centre of the video games world.

Pokémon Pokopia Developed by KOEI TECMO GAMES and releasing on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, Pokémon Pokopia is a life simulation game where players can create their own Pokémon paradise. The game features Ditto as its protagonist, who has transformed to look like a human. As Ditto, players can explore and learn moves from the Pokémon they befriend—such as Bulbasaur’s Leafage to grow greenery, or Squirtle’s Water Gun to revive dried-up plants—expanding their capabilities and helping them create an inviting environment to attract a variety of Pokémon. Players can collect materials, build furniture, grow vegetables, and create homes for Pokémon, allowing them to experience a cozy, slow life with Pokémon—one that they build themselves from the ground up. Over time, players can develop a town of their own and invite other players or Pokémon to visit2. Pokémon Pokopia also features a day-night cycle linked to real-world time, changing weather, and in-game locations with their own unique characteristics.

As the trailer suggested, Pokemon: Pokopia is being developed by Koei Tecmo. I'm not aware of them having experience in that genre, but maybe I've got a blind spot?

Engage has the best maps the series has seen in many years - miles better than Three Houses - and the FE Force Ghost mechanic adds a lot of fun layers to the customization. I had so much fun playing it. I even liked the cast eventually

I’m not that far in Silksong (I can float now) but my main observation is that I find it much more accessible than Hollow Knight. I’m not getting lost as easily, I’m getting through the bosses quickly… I think it’s because I already speak the game’s language so it feels less daunting
