We'll see. MAGA is a lot like the "four legs good, two legs bad" sheep of 1984. Dear Leader can do no wrong.

Tim's points fade in my mind knowing that my ACA insurance will COST ME $20,000 MORE NEXT YEAR.

Can you define some terms? In your usage, who are lefties, centrists, reactionaries? How do they fit within/around progressive & conservative?

Lovely. Caius Crispus couldn't have done it any better. :-)

IDK, less of a W than the Supremes saying, "Silly girl, *you're* not our big baboo. We only put out for our husky orange dreamboat."

Jesus didn't just say "go away", he told them where to go, and it was a very warm, very unpleasant place.

When I mention Matthew 25 to Republicans, it just bounces right off. They don't know why I'm bringing up such irrelevancies.

Are they specifically mentioning tariffs, or is it somehow Biden's fault? Or immigrants' fault? Or Black peoples' fault?

Small modification: They do care about "bias". They want it to be theirs. Everywhere and always.

I see a lot of typos that would pass a spell check. E.g., "Keep me apprized." (Which is how I learned "apprize" is a word.)

So they probably fired the proofreaders and went to spell check instead.

What about the editors? Do they not *see* the typos when they read their authors' books?

Second, MAGAs are mad because they donโ€™t just want us to condemn violence, which every Dem did. They want us, EXPECT US, to join in their nonsensical deification of a racist right-wing nut. Criticism of Trump/MAGA denies them their validation & makes them furious, like a child denied ice cream.

Kimmel didnโ€™t criticize Kirk at all; he criticized Trump and MAGA. They are fair game.โ€จโ€จ Two things are at work, IMO. First, obviously, ABC was seeking to justify their cowardice. (โ€œIt wasnโ€™t money! No, it was insensitive comments.โ€)

22.09.2025 21:15 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

One part of ABCโ€™s sniveling Kimmel statement caught my eye: โ€œWe felt some of the comments were ill-timed and thus insensitiveโ€. Someone should ask ABC execs exactly *which* comments were ill-timed and therefore (supposedly) insensitive.

The blurb on the back cover of my "1984" paperback says that it "failed as prophecy because it succeeded as warning". I'm sorry "Network" has not done the same.

Reminds me of that great Jon Stewart line: "Saudi Arabia is such a good ally that five of the 9/11 terrorists weren't from there."

Speaker Mike Johnson, today: "OK, I lied, Trump wasn't undercover for the FBI, and I can't explain *exactly* why he hung out with a heinous pedophile, but he's still completely innocent and the bestest president ever!"

09.09.2025 00:14 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Speaker Mike Johnson, a few days ago: "Our beloved president wasn't a *friend* of Epstein. No, he only hung out with him and showed great enthusiasm in his company and sent him erotic birthday cards because he was working undercover for the FBI to expose this heinous pedophile."

Every now and then, a MAGA sycophant accidentally says something true while dissembling. As Colbert said some years ago, "Reality has a well-known liberal bias."

Because they are as warped as he is, in a lot of cases. As dedicated to strongman rule. Taxes are icing on the cake.

Even Cuban, who has been pleasantly critical of the new breed of robber baron billionaires, isn't immune from the "make helping people worth my while" mindset. But I guess generous people don't become billionaires in the first place.

Sure, try everything, but keep expectations low. A few possible outcomes:

1. Admin ignores, nothing happens.

2. Admin ignores, a federal judge orders compliance, Supremes take five minutes to overrule

3. Supremes somehow don't overrule; R's spend a day repealing the law.

Hope you're right. Difference is Fox et al said all thru Biden's term that the economy sucked and the MSM didn't contradict. Now Fox et al will say it's great and the MSM won't contradict. When there is unavoidable hard data showing a bad economy, Fox et al will blame Biden and MSM won't contradict.

Best-case scenario: Republicans are "merely" short-sighted and arrogant.

Worse-case scenario: Republicans are planning the Fourth Reich.

Agree it was very good, but it did do one thing I don't care for. Two people are having a conversation, one person says something important and portentous . . . and the scene chops off right there. I imagine Cromwell saying, "Um, would you care to elaborate, Your Majesty?"

08.07.2025 00:50 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Well said. I woulda added sarcastic quotation marks. "Fiscal conservatives", "pro-family". Any self-description of Republicans needs sarcastic quotation marks.

Doubt it will help, but I called my R Rep and urged him to vote against the budget bill. Which probably means Iโ€™ll now get texts from him telling me all the great MAGA things heโ€™s proudly doing on my behalf. Closing hospitals! Harrassing gay, trans, and brown people! Cutting the Sacklers' taxes!

Sheโ€™s become Susan Collins, West. Always โ€œconcernedโ€, always caves.โ€จโ€จTo ask House GOP (who are even more slavishly MAGA than the Senate) to fix the horrible bill she voted for five minutes earlier is a special kind of assholery.
