We had such a great time at the LACOE neurodiversity summit talking about math for everyone. As always @talknumber2me.bsky.social did an amazing job organizing it. she even made potato chips with my book on it. Definitely the coolest professional gift I have ever gotten. ♾️

Here is a thought

Called to compassion” in math education means recognizing each student’s unique journey, valuing their thinking, & creating spaces where they feel seen & heard. When we teach with compassion, we foster confidence, agency, & a love for learning.

Environmental Impacts of Fires at the Wildland-Urban Interface
YouTube video by caltech Environmental Impacts of Fires at the Wildland-Urban Interface

For all of us wanting advice about how to mitigate toxic ash/dust from the fires, this Caltech webinar is really excellent—very informative & practical. One takeaway: dust that they wiped off surfaces on campus had high levels of lead, but wet wipes are effective at cleaning.

Ss too focused on the answer? Have them solve for the question!

If the answer “could be 5 or 5 remainder 1,” what might the problem be? And, what would the remainder 1 represent in that problem? #division #remainders #WhatDoYouDoWithTheLeftovers
