Dollar Store Workers’ Fight Shows How to Build Power Even Without a Union Since the NLRB is not going to save dollar store workers, “we need to learn how to [organize] ourselves,” says a worker.

Most dollar store workers are spread in tiny clusters across the country, meaning each store would have to unionize individually. Today, only 4% of retail workers in the U.S. are unionized. Many are now turning to a different model to build power without unions.

Despite making critical contributions to the booming AI industry, data workers often report that they aren’t treated like the skilled, valuable workers that they are.
