23.02.2026 22:35 β π 18 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0between a long ago busted knee that sometimes doesnβt like to behave, and the dutch winds, the ebike is the equalizer and i bike more, further, and i donβt need max assist, just a low setting boost.:D
24.02.2026 09:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Is riding an e bike cheating?
No, it's just like doing 20 reps at a low weight instead of 10 at a heavy weight in the gym. You get the exercise anyway. AND you might be more likely to get on the bike in the first place.

just deleted duolingo. i had long finished dutch, and honestly it was just a time suck and slowly less and less useful or fun.
23.02.2026 19:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Tired, and achy, from 10km walking in Antwerp, endless chocolate, two museums and a festival and a writer meet up.
I am having mild anxiety but it could just be chocolate overdose and flat utter exhaustion.
Antwerp daytrip.

diamond museum and chocolate museum in antwerp, then chocolate museum in amsterdam, and writer sunday meet up.
my bike is my car. coming from a city with next to no cycle infrastructure, i feel so grateful.
( randomly, iβve been to charlotte! friends live there. nice airport too. downside: maybe the worst case of food poisoning we all ever got. that made for a wild flight home.:D )
we lived only 3 blocks from the school, 90 seconds bike ride so around age 8 he started biking it solo. now heβs in middle school at 12 and its a 5? min bike ride but the pool for gym was 15. they also biked to summer year end camp 20km with teachers.
its a gradual process.:D
iβm fortunate in that we do have extensive cycling infrastructure and in school they did comprehensive cycle safety and drivers being also well trained and also cyclists too, its not my fear. its being harassed by roving kids on fatbikes out to stir trouble that i worry
20.02.2026 16:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0mine biked cross the city to a friendβs house and i almost chewed my fingers off with worry. heβs almost 13. But he handled it.
Iβll still worry when heβs 23, iβm sure.
week two of not eating mammalian ( no cow, pork), and the hives are vastly reduced and almost non existent.
In a couple weeks I might email my GP and ask if we can test for alpha gal. that would be one major health irk sorted.
Everything else is relatively managed, but the hives we were lost on.
i donβt miss the baby years. they were fun, but i like the years he can talk back, cook his own breakfast and do his own laundry.

It will go by fast. ( and then you stare at your pre teen and go βhow did that ALL happen so fast?β)
Is it any wonder? The man has no brains for accountancy, business sense, logic, science, leadership, no wonder he bankrupted so many times and nicked money from charity.
Heβs got the fiscal sense of a walnut. And people will still champion him.
maddeningly, the more i learn the more i have to stop, review, learn. one set of books for learning is great, and explanatory, the other meant for class and instructor use but i donβt have that, and a third ref for sentence structure.
Iβll conquer this yet.
Dutch reading practice.:D

But no. I get jerk version of perimenopause. Fucking. Hell.
The anxiety in perimenopause is esp frustrating since i am in no way β anxiousβ. I stared down dignitaries and secret service in high security events. For work. I worked at airport security ( security clearance documentation) on 9/11. I am not β anxious. β. Aliens could land. Im cool as a cucumber.
