The Garganey mentioned.
06.10.2025 18:39 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0A definite red letter day
03.10.2025 18:27 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Nothing like size of pro EU march. Lot of football matches in London today. Not complacent but perspective needed.
13.09.2025 19:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Unbelievable and the other two just accepted it!!
13.09.2025 19:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Should add that finally here relates to this invasion - I think that these were the sixth and seventh at the reserve.
11.09.2025 17:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0You know when people say record shot and itβs no such thing? Well not in this case, but I am so pleased that NCW finally scored Glossy Ibis today that I wanted to post this shot.
11.09.2025 17:24 β π 18 π 1 π¬ 1 π 0Gary found a Clouded Yellow on Dryham Lame in the afternoon.
08.09.2025 17:38 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0The people on site first thing were lucky to get good views of the Night Heron at North Cave Wetlands. Shortly after this it flew into vegetation and wasnβt see again up to 14:30.
20.08.2025 15:11 β π 29 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Night Heron showed well this am at NCW - presumably the returning bird from last year
20.08.2025 07:11 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Would think it almost certainly is last yearβs bird.
19.08.2025 19:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Bird of the day today was this Clouded Yellow butterfly. Thanks to @northcavebirds.bsky.social

27.07.2025 05:42 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Itβs been a bit quiet on the wader front at NCW so two beautiful Wood Sandpipers today were very welcome.
22.07.2025 10:01 β π 17 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0An adult Cuckoo at NCW today. It wonβt be long before these leave the country.

Two years ago avian flu ripped through our reserve, we lost many Black headed Gulls and all Mediterranean Gulls, so itβs great to see at least 7 juveniles (3 families), this year. NCW, East Yorkshire.

05.06.2025 18:41 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was hard to catch up with Whimbrels at NCW last year so it is good that there seems to be a few birds on the reserve regularly. These two from 5/5/25
06.05.2025 09:26 β π 9 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Lots at NCW too. Warblers in general seem up - good news
04.05.2025 08:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Very well thanks - mainly at NCW but hopefully get to Spurn sometime. Hope youβre good too
04.05.2025 07:58 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Pintail is definitely the other contender

Surely the best dabbling duck? Drake Garganey at NCW 3/5/25 - seems to have been an influx today.

22.04.2025 15:32 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The first Wheatear of the year at NCW is always a delight. This bird brightened a damp day 15/4/25

06.04.2025 14:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Three new birds for the year at NCW today. Only photo is of the delightful Yellow Wagtail, a Sedge Warbler sang from deep in a bush. Best of all 4 Common Cranes flew over very distantly. Thanks to tip off from Alkborough for the latter.
