Carney’s conditional yes to Trump’s Peace Board invitation is the same yes you give after unexpectedly bumping into to the guy you used to work who says “let’s do lunch”. Politely non-committal.

There is zero point in Canada trying to finish a new free trade agreement with the US. Trump will continue to use the negotiations to lie, belittle, threaten and grift all while taking a wrecking ball to our economy. We need to admit agreements, treaties and alliances mean nothing to them.

Considering the Chinese have substantial investments in the Venezuelan oil industry, we’ll see how long that embargo lasts before the Chinese find something painful to tariff or stop buying from the US.

If you still need to vote in the Alberta municipal election - leave work early! The UCPs new rules have slowed voting to a crawl. It’s voter suppression, Alberta style - unnecessary paperwork hand written in triplicate.

Don’t accept their language - it’s a crackdown on any and all dissent. “Left wing” is just the scapegoat.

We treat a drivers licence like a public document and use it as ID all the time. The police can ask for it. But also the doorman at the pub. The bank. Landlords. Airlines. The UCP is choosing to share if you are an immigrant with all these people - who may use that to decide to deny you services.

Don’t for a moment think adding citizenship status to your driver licence is about good governance - the UCP would force immigrants to wear symbols on their clothing if they could.

If you look at Invest Alberta, the publicly funded investment “incubators” and the privately run Alberta investment capital companies who swoop in after these private companies have been proven profitable, you’ll unsurprisingly see a lot of the same names who benefit.

I’d love to see her do well too (even though I have no idea what her positions are). I see her taking 15% and the rest split another 10 to 15%. Undoubtedly though the entire Conservative machine is focused on this - GOTV, multiple E Day managers you name it.

I’m assuming you guys are from outside Alberta. The only battle on that riding is for the Conservative nomination. After that it’s a matter of how much they win by, not if.
