Three journalists among 11 Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza Reporters had been in car on way to new camp, says media group, as two 13-year-old boys killed in separate incidents

The “most moral army” in the world loves killing civilians especially children, medics, journalists and indeed any human it can target!

Aside from this being incorrect - the underlying rule on sovereignty and statehood is the Montevideo Convention, which doesn’t imply defence capabilities - this is illuminating on what is now pseudo-official U.S. policy: any territory you cannot defend is fair game for someone else

Australia has an opportunity to get out of AUKUS. We should take it.

We ask the Albanese Government to prioritise Australia's interests and security, and to join the UK and the US Governments in undertaking an independent parliamentary inquiry into AUKUS.

AUKUS has tied Australia to a sinking nuclear defence enterprise called the United Kingdom. It’s not just a retired UK Admiral, the UK Audit office has tracked the structural failures for years. But don’t worry, Marles and Meade say it’s “on track” - they are dangerously deluded

Guardian Essential poll: Australians back emissions target while One Nation support doubles Poll finds One Nation’s primary vote has doubled to 13% since the May federal election

Australia's racist party doubles its support since the May 2025 election

Centrist Labor government will absolutely see this as a sign that it needs to be more racist (and in doing so, actively feed more support for One Nation and lose support for themselves)

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, major UN report finds Israel has committed and is continuing to commit genocide in Gaza, according to the "most authoritative assessment" to date.

What is the threshold for sanctioning PM Netanyahu and his govt?!

Signatories to the genocide convention like 🇦🇺 must take action in the face of genocide, including taking measures to stop it.

The global community has to do more.

Stop Killing Journalists
YouTube video by withMEAA Stop Killing Journalists

Israel has killed more journalists in the last 22 months than were killed in the US civil war, WW1, WW2, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan combined.

The numbers are simply unprecedented - these are their names

Labor keeps ‘dire’ climate report under wraps The government has delayed the release of a “shocking” assessment of global warming’s effect on the economy, just weeks before its 2035 target decision.

Concerning reports the unreleased National Climate Risk Assessment is “dire” and “diabolical”.

It maps what the people & places we love stand to lose from climate change.

We should know this before the govt sets our 2035 emissions target

Release it now.

Thirty years ago we said never again, Srebrenica. How much longer before we declare: never again, Gaza? | Ed Husic When it comes to the horrors of genocide we say these words with an ironic frequency. How do we short-circuit the re-run of this pitiful, shameful cycle? Today will be a hard day for Sydneysider Mirela Muratovic, a survivor of the only recognised genocide in Europe since the end of the second world war: Srebrenica. During the 1990s Bosnian war Srebrenica was designated a United Nations-protected “safe area” – a label that came to mean nothing. Continue reading...

One of the reasons Twitter became the place for govt feeds was that it used to be possible to view all of (non-private) Twitter without being logged in, hence making it function like a mini blog. That ended under Musk, and really should have been the end of it.

The @albomp.bsky.social govt is being awfully quiet about Lattouf v ABC

Not even any expressions of "grave concern" about the craven capitulation, unlawful behaviour & derogation of public interest journalism by ABC senior management?

No interest in the integrity of the national broadcaster?

Among the dead are at least 27 people killed in an Israeli strike on civilians waiting for food in central Gaza, an attack that also wounded dozens and turned a relief site into what one Palestinian official called an “open field of death.”

It is shocking that 22 years after the US, UK and Australia went to war in Iraq based on the WMD lies, we see mainstream media headlines today running Trump's Iran "weeks away" from a nuclear weapon claim without explicitly framing it as directly contradicted by his own intelligence community
