I mentioned this stat from Alisa Wood of KKR in a talk I did a few weeks ago, but did you know: There are more private equity firms in the United States than there are McDonald's? (~19,000 vs. 14,000) In 1980, there were 24 PE firms *total* in the U.S. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

To be honest, I suspect that is part of their plans.

Yep. Indoor baths, like indoor toilets, took longer to become standard to houses than indoor plumbing to kitchens did. You just boiled water in the kitchen, and made do. Large metal buckets turned tubs, or improvised showers, or just a sponge so you could wash your bits.

Republicans: Let us take doctors away from sick people or weโ€™re gonna take food away from poor families.โ€

Essentially it is this, yes.

Hard to overstate the lifeline this ruling offers in the face of Trump's calculated cruelty.

It will not only keep tens of millionsโ€”half of them kidsโ€”fed this month, but will also prevent the evictions and shutoffs that would have resulted from families being forced to pay for food out of pocket.

Nothing is scarier to Warhammer fans than loose adherence to canon!

The joke is, our comic has a flesh-eating monster in the main cast.

On the eve of his second election โ€” on October 31, 1936 โ€” FDR delivered his coup de grace, explaining the stakes in his fight with the moneyed interests.

Todayโ€™s economic royalists are backing Trump, and the fight is much the same.

And there certainly is gravity on the moon. About 1/6th that of earth. It's why the astronauts are always hopping/skipping around in the videos of them on the surface. They found that easier than trying to walk normally.

The reason the boots on display have a different tread is because the actual lunar suits were left in the lunar ascent module after leaving the surface to return to the orbiter. And the ascent module ejected to crash back to the moon before the orbiter returned to earth. So the boots are replicas.

The flag was designed with an extending rod along the top to hold the flag out. During Apollo 11 the rod got stuck part way, resulting in the rippling flag. All the later missions replicated the look even though the rod design was fixed, because they thought it looked better "waving" than flat

There are no stars because the scene has strong illumination from the sun. Stars are *faint*, just about any direct light source renders them invisible to the eye.

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.

iโ€™m continually struck by the joy zohran has brought to this election and the absolute venom with which itโ€™s been met.

though some of GDW's games found new homes and continued on (Traveller, Space 1889, and Twilight 2000 for example)

to be honest, i suspect that a lot of 40K players born in more recent decades just didn't realize that "games workshop" and "games designers workshop" were unrelated corporate entities. given that GW went on to grow into a mega company, while GDW shut its doors in 1996 and sorta faded from memory

So I regularly see some confusion about the OG female Space Marine models so let's do story time:
So before Warhammer was a thing Games Workshop started as a small miniature producer for tabletop RPGs that expanded into minature wargames as a way to get people to buy more minis.

Remember: The richest 1% evade over $160 billion in taxes every year.

That amount would fund SNAP for a year with money to spare.

Ask yourself who the real freeloaders are.

I want to know.. which 4 weeks does he think that the family should starve each year, in order to spend part of that month's $350 on stockpiling?
Also, last few times people on SNAP did try to stockpile food (usually before hurricanes, storms, etc), right wingers called them greedy and wasteful

I maintain that every one of these people should be forced to live on SNAP for a month.
