Visited the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington DC on Friday. Plan for half a day, more if you are a known museum "reader". Toured the museum alongside a school group w/ boys wearing MAGA hats: I've never wanted to smack the smug off of a kid more.

It's not quite as lively as the other place used to be. But...it'll do.

Pro mom experience: School calls regarding kid w/ a potentially broken arm. You've put on a bra, jeans, and shoes before the call is done, peed, thrown your phone AND a charger into your bag along w/ snacks and a sweater because you've been cold and hungry w/ a dead phone in the ER a time or three.

My fam when we heard Netflix is doing a Little House reboot: "shit" "oh no" "goddammit". (Our last name is Ingalls.)

#Anxiety: The giant Jenga tower--the one I'd had stacked precisely--just fell. I'm scrambling to catch all the pieces and am convinced that the reason I have--insert random pain--is unrelated to the fact that I'm getting pelted w/ hard wooden blocks and actually means I'm dying. #mentalhealth

Not to gloat, but it's 8 degrees outside where I am.

I've been making a tray full of sourdough discard crackers daily for weeks now--topped w/ everything bagel seasoning. The teenager has been eating all the crackers. Daily. The poppy seed encrusted crackers. We just bought a drug test online. For science. He is amused.

My accomplishments today: passing a class for my master's degree, making this delish chocolate chip sourdough loaf, and not accidentally giving the Nazi salute in front of a worldwide audience.

Eight years ago, we went to a local Mexican restaurant for lunch, trying to avoid what was happening on TV. At the bar, a customer was arguing w/ the bartender to change the channel to the inauguration. The bartender pretended not to speak English. We're going there for lunch again today.

I am not a night owl. I go to bed by 9pm. Last night I was up until after midnight, and back up at 5am. Sleep? What's that?

Big. Sad. Feelings. This is going to be a shit week. Distraction plans include finishing my Iron Flame re-read. Reading Onyx Storm. Completing a class for my masters degree. Lots of sourdough bread. Putting away the Christmas tree. And watching Les Mis and Hamilton on repeat. Seeing my BFF.

Thoughts on our new #UnitedHealthcare policy, 14 days in: LAME. Unable to register main policy member's name for a week due dumb error. Kids' life insurance policies canceled 13 days in due to another error. Haven't yet received cards to access HSA funds. Website and app both currently down.
